Abstract:
A downhole disconnect tool (10) is configured to form part of a downhole tool assembly (100) which is run into a borehole (B) as part of a tool string (1000), such as a drill string, the disconnect tool (10) being operable to permit part of the tool string(1000) below the disconnect tool (10) to be disconnected, for example in the event the tool string (1000) has become stuck in the borehole (B). The disconnect tool (10) comprises a first, lower, sub (12), a second, upper, sub (14) and a disconnect arrangement which converts an axial input force applied to the disconnect tool (10) into a rotary output force on the first sub (12) to disconnect the first member (12) and the second member (14).
Abstract:
Circulation Subassembly The present invention relates to acirculation subassembly (circsub) for incorporation in a drill pipe. The circsub has a flow through condition in which the circsub allows fluid to flow through a bore of the circsub and does not allow fluid communication between the bore of the circsub and an annulus located outside the drill pipe, a partial bypass condition in which the circsub allows fluid to flow through the bore of the circsub and allows fluid communication between the bore of the circsub and the annulus, and a full bypass condition in which the circsub does not allow fluid to flow through the bore of the circsub and allows fluid communication between the bore of the circsub and the annulus. An actuator is provided to change the circsub between conditions under the control of a controller.
Abstract:
In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, a system includes a valve housing with a port formed in a wall of the housing, a rotation sleeve disposed in the valve housing, an orienting sleeve with an orienting feature disposed in and fixed to the valve housing, and a shifter. The rotation sleeve is rotatable relative to the valve housing and includes a port formed therethrough. The shifter includes engagement features disposed a distance from each other along a length of the shifter and a rotational distance from each other about a circumference of the shifter. The engagement features are receivable into corresponding features of the orienting sleeve and the rotation sleeve to rotate the rotation sleeve relative to the valve housing as the shifter travels through the valve housing. The disclosed system may be used to selectively manipulate any number of valves in downhole equipment.
Abstract:
A flow control apparatus is provided for deployment downhole as part of a wellbore string. The flow control apparatus includes a flow control member having a screened portion for filtering debris from reservior fluid that is incoming into the wellbore.
Abstract:
A packer has a tubular body and a setting sleeve disposed around the tubular body, where the setting sleeve has an upper end, a lower end, and a slot formed through a wall of the setting sleeve. The slot has a perimeter defining a shape of the slot, the perimeter having a top wall with a positively sloping portion extending to a top peak. The slot shape also includes a first axial extension extending axially along the sleeve from a first upper portion to a first lower portion, a second axial extension circumferentially spaced apart from the first extension and extending axially along the sleeve from a second upper portion to a second lower portion, and a lateral extension extending from the first upper portion to the second upper portion. A load pin is directly or indirectly connected to the tubular body and extends through the slot.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a cable-operated hammering tool (20) for downhole operations, comprising an extended cylinder (3) with an axially through-going internal opening in the cylinder (3), a hammering part (10) is arranged in a lower section of the cylinder (3)and is fitted with a detachable coupling for the connection with downhole equipment, a release strut (1) is arranged in the upper section of the cylinder (3) that is connected to a cable which is connected to a surface installation, the hammering part is detachably fastened to the cylinder (3) with the help of, at least, one locking body (4). The release strut (1) is functionally connected to a force spring (2) for prestressing of this by moving in a first direction, and also functionally coupled to the, at least, one locking body (4) to be released from this by moving in an opposite direction.
Abstract:
The invention provides a downhole initiator tool (10, 210, 410, 610) for use in initiating a downhole operation, and a method of use. The downhole initiator tool comprises a mandrel (34, 234, 434, 634), an initiator assembly (26, 226, 426, 626), and an anchor assembly (28, 228, 428, 628) mounted on the mandrel. The anchor assembly comprises a radially extendable anchor member (26, 226, 426, 626) for engaging an outer bore structure. The anchor assembly and the mandrel are axially moveable relative to each other in a first axial direction to sequentially extend the anchor member and activate the initiator assembly.
Abstract:
A packer and method and apparatus for releasing pressure within a pressurized annulus around the packer. The apparatus comprises a central tubular member having a central bore therethrough extending between first and second ends, an outer plug slidably locatable within a first end of the tubular member and having a central bore therethrough and an inner plug slidably locatable within the central bore of the outer plug. The method comprises longitudinally retracting the inner plug from sealed engagement within the central bore of the outer plug member so as to permit fluid to flow therethrough and engaging the outer plug with a retraction body operably connected to the inner plug extending adapted to engage the inner plug after a predetermined length of travel so as to draw the outer plug out of the central tubular member thereafter.
Abstract:
A downhole tool for use in a wellbore and that is attached to a perforating string that creates perforations in a portion of the wellbore. Where the downhole tool can selectively flow fluid from the perforating string to surface, or circulate flow from surface to an annular space between the tool and a wellbore wall. The tool includes pressure actuated valves that provide the flow diverting functionality. The valves are in cooperation with one another to prevent fluid from the portion of the wellbore having the perforations from flowing into the annular space. A pressure actuated selector assembly, which is made up of a piston and specially configured mandrels that are coaxially stacked, selectively moves separate mandrels in an axial direction for opening and closing the valves.
Abstract:
A one trip interventionless method for fracking multiple intervals incorporates a remotely operated passage isolation valve for each interval. A screen backed by a base pipe is provided to route screened production through a shutoff valve before the production reaches the passage in the completion assembly. The shutoff valve is remotely operated as well. The fracking port is associated with a pressure responsive operator such as a j-slot mechanism with a spring return. The j-slot mechanism is behind a rupture disc so that it remains unaffected while other operations are going on in the wellbore. The rupture discs are set at different pressures for the intervals involved. Sequentially, each fracked zone is isolated and the zone above is opened with breaking the rupture disc and applying predetermined number of pressure cycles. The screen valves are remotely operated as needed after the fracking to initiate production from one or more intervals.
