Abstract:
A visitor based network (VBN) server clustering system comprises a cluster of VBN servers for servicing a single local area network (LAN). Each VBN server comprises a client device data store for creating and maintaining device state records of user devices connected to the LAN, an interface for data communication with the user devices through the LAN, and a network traffic processing unit for processing network traffic from and to the user devices using the device state records in the client device data store. The VBN server further comprises a clustering manager for implementing clustering of the VBN servers by filtering the network traffic from and to the one or more user devices based on the configuration settings of the VBN servers and the device state records so as to allow the network traffic processing unit to process only a filtered portion of the network traffic. The filtering of the network traffic partitions the network traffic so that each user device is processed by a single one of the VBN servers within the cluster at a given time.
Abstract:
Abstract:
To prevent tracking as it roams through a network of wireless access points (WAPs), a wireless device changes the MAC address. The device does this by randomizing some or all of the bits in the MAC address or selecting the MAC address from a group of MAC addresses assigned to the device by the device manufacturer. Furthermore, in order to further confuse tracking and make analytics not useful, a device can share MAC addresses with other devices, and check to make sure that a shared MAC address is not actively being used before selecting and using it.
Abstract:
Some embodiments use proxies on host devices to suppress broadcast traffic in a network. Each host in some embodiments executes one or more virtual machines (VMs). In some embodiments, a proxy operates on each host between each VM and the underlying network. For instance, in some of these embodiments, a VM's proxy operates between the VM and a physical forwarding element executing on the VM's host. The proxy monitors the VM's traffic, and intercepts broadcast packets when it knows how to deal with them. The proxy connects to a set of one or more controllers that provides a directory service that collects and maintains global information of the network. By connecting to the controller cluster, the proxy can obtain information that it can use to resolve broadcast requests. In some embodiments, the connection between the proxy and the controller cluster is encrypted and authenticated, to enhance the security. Also, in some embodiments, the connection is an indirect connection through an agent that executes on the host device and connects the proxies of the host device with the controller cluster.
Abstract:
A location server includes: a first receiver module configured to receive, from a location-based services application server (LBS AS), a first identification for a first mobile device associated with the LBS AS; a second receiver module configured to receive, from an access/location network (ALN), a second identification for a second mobile device associated with the ALN; a comparison module, communicatively coupled to the first and second receiver modules, configured to determine whether the first and second identifications match and whether the first and second mobile devices are the same mobile device based at least in part on whether the first and second identifications match; and a location service information module, communicatively coupled to the comparison module, and configured to provide a location service for the first mobile device in response to the comparison module determining that the first and second mobile devices are the same mobile device.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method to allow multiple virtual local area network (VLAN) traffics to traverse over a wireless multi-hop network. The method is characterised by the steps of performing initialization phase, wherein the initialization phase includes exchanging media access control (MAC) addresses and Basic Service Set Identifications (BSSIDs) information between an access point (AP) (200) and a relay client (300); performing AP (200) to relay client (300) operation phase, wherein the AP (200) to relay client (300) operation phase includes transmitting a modified MAC address from AP (200) to the relay client (300); and performing relay client (300) to AP (200) operation phase, wherein the relay client (300) to AP (200) operation phase includes transmitting a modified transmitter MAC address at the packet header from relay client (300) to AP (200).
