Methods and compositions for decontaminating exposed surfaces or spaces which may be contaminated with chemical and biological warfare agents and the like are disclosed. The contaminants can be chemical warfare agents, industrial pollutants, pesticides, toxins and the like. For decontamination, a contaminated surface or space is contacted with an aerosol comprising a decontaminating agent, and subsequently or simultaneously, the decontaminated surface or space is contacted with an aerosol comprising a decontaminating agent antagonist. In particular, self-inactivating aerosols are disclosed.

Aerosols comprising droplets dispersed in a carrier gas, wherein at least some of the droplets contain an antagonist effective to inactivate a biocide are provided. The droplets may contain the biocide and the antagonist that reacts with the biocide to render it harmless. The biocide is used for disinfection or sterilization, and the nature and concentration of the antagonist is selected, or means are provided, to ensure that the time required for the antagonist to render the biocide ineffective is longer than the time required for the biocide to be effective for a desired level of disinfection or sterilization. Methods of manufacture of aerosols are also provided.

The invention is an apparatus and methods for optimizing the performance and protecting one or more aerosol generating transducers from deterioration while operating in a chemically reactive aqueous solution by utilizing one or more protective barrier techniques to eliminate chemical interaction between the aqueous solution and the transducers, among other features of the generator including these transducers. The method of the present invention produces an aerosol producing transducer with the transducer housing and assembly to be constructed in such a way as to assure its efficient and effective long-term and problem free operation in an aqueous solution that is chemically reactive.

The present invention relates to a method for disinfecting a space and the objects present therein, which method comprises at least the following steps of: (a) determining a first value of the relative humidity of the air in the space; (b) atomizing a disinfecting liquid in the space until a predetermined second value of the relative humidity of the air is reached in the space, and; (c) maintaining the relative humidity of the air for a predetermined time at the second value by means of atomizing the disinfecting liquid, wherein the method further comprises of decreasing the relative humidity of the air in the space prior to and/or during atomizing of the disinfecting liquid.

The invention relates to a method and embodiment for the chemical and residue-free cleaning, sanitisation, disinfection and odour neutralisation of hands, body parts, and agricultural products, in addition to surfaces, materials and objects by means of electrostatic spray technology and an electrolysis generator using electrolysed cold or hot water, with the aid of oxidative radicals. The invention is characterised in that the method, combined with the electrostatic spray technology and oxidative radicals produced electrolytically from water containing salt ions and in a total minimum radical concentration of 35ppm and higher permits hands, body parts, and agricultural products, in addition to surfaces, materials and objects to both be cleaned and disinfected by being integrated into a hand-washing installation, a shower installation, WC installation and a washing installation for agricultural products and permits 99.9 % of micro-organisms such as viruses, gram positive and gram negative bacteria, yeasts, fungi, algae and single-cell organisms etc. to be eliminated using cold oxidation in the form of an ultra-rapid super oxidation, without generating a resistance in the micro-organisms or pathogens and without leaving residues.

A method for sanitizing a device, the method comprising the steps of choosing the sanitizing options from the graphical user interface (GUI) to sanitize such device, passing the appropriate signal to release/refresh sub-system which controls the sanitizer flow, initiating fumes to sanitize the device, sanitizing the device and updating the release/refresh system to sanitize the device. Another exemplary embodiment relates to an apparatus adapted to sanitize a device comprising a body having plurality of sanitlzation points, a display system, a keypad having a plurality of keys, a sanitizer cartridge case having a sanitizer cartridge, a release/refresh subsystem which controls the sanitizer flow during the process of sanitization.
