Abstract:
A method of making a connection in a subsea pipeline, comprising lowering a foundation over a section of the pipeline; cutting the out a section of the pipeline to form an end of a first pipeline and an end of a second pipeline; connecting a first hub to the end of the first pipeline; connecting a second hub to the end of the second pipeline; connecting a first port to the first hub; connecting a second port to the second hub; and connecting a jumper between the first port and the second port.
Abstract:
A tool for lowering, alternatively later retrieval, of a pipeline end which is provided with a connecting part (2) designed for mating with and connection to a first connecting part (1) on the seabed is shown. The tool is so arranged that the tool (20) can be brought to the surface again for reuse. The tool (20) comprises a central lifting frame (30), a guiding part (40) forming an extension of the lifting frame (30) and a lifting yoke (50), which tool (20) includes gripping mechanisms (32, 33, 35) which, in one situation, are actuatable to partly circumscribe and retain the pipeline end (E2), and, in a second situation, the gripping mechanisms are releasable to release the pipeline end (E2) from the lifting frame (30).
Abstract:
A method of joining two portions of an underwater pipeline laid on the bed of a body of water to conduct fluid and/or gas, the method including : joining a telescopic sleeve (39), having a first coupling head (40), to a first end (35) of a first pipeline portion (31) above the body of water (3); laying the first end (35), the telescopic sleeve (39), and the first coupling head (40) on the bed (2) of the body of water (3); joining a second coupling head (42) to a second end (36) of a second pipeline portion (32) above the body of water (3); laying the second end (36) and the second coupling head (42) on the bed (2) of the body of water (3), close to the first coupling head (40); roughly aligning the first and second coupling head (40, 42) in the body of water (3); and clamping the first and second coupling head (40, 42) to each other in the body of water (3).
Abstract:
The present invention provides an apparatus for repairing the outer sheath of a pipe, said apparatus comprising a sleeve (12) adapted to surround the pipe, sealing means (16) for establishing atleast two circumferential seals between the surface of the pipe and means (17, 18) for forcing a sealing solution against the surface of the pipe between the two circumferential seals, the arrangement being such that in use the sleeve is spaced from the outer sheath of the pipe to form a sealed annulus therebetween and a method of repairing an outer sheath of a pipe, said method comprising the steps of mounting a sleeve over the pipe to provide an annulus therebetween, securing the sleeve in place around the pipe, providing two circumferential seals between the sleeve and the pipe and forcing a sealing solution against the surface of the pipe between the two circumferential seals to form a pressure seal between the circumferential seals and sealing the annulus between the pipe and the sleeve.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a pipe coupling apparatus for coupling together two opposing pipe flanges (1, 2). The pipe coupling comprises one or more gripping elements (3) that are connected to a second pipe flange (2). The gripping elements (3) are provided for locking with a first pipe flange (1), and at least one locking element (4) that is displaceably arranged in the axial direction of the second pipe flange (2), for locking the gripping elements (3) to the first pipe flange (1) when the pipe flanges (1, 2) are coupled together. The locking element (4) is fixedly connected to at least one insulating element, preferably a first insulating element (6) which surrounds the pipe flange (2), and the apparatus comprises a tool (40) designed to displace the first insulating element (6), and thus the locking ring (4).
Abstract:
Abstract:
Abstract:
A connector for use as a bend stiffener in a marine application comprising male and female connectors respectively provided with a downwardly dependent frusto-conical extension and a cylindrical extension. The female connector comprises a hollow cylindrical body (1) defining a through bore (4) and surrounded by a spring loaded sleeve (9) movable axially with respect to the body (1). Spring loaded latches (11) extend through respective apertures (10) to coact with grooves (6) in the body (1). Hydraulic rams (12) are disposed to push the sleeve (9) against the spring loading which brings an internally wider diameter position of the sleeve (9) adjacent locking balls (14) extending through but retained by stepped apertures (5). The latches, rams and locking balls coact to lock the male and female connectors together or to enable their release and thus the locking together or release from that locking together of connected extensions. This in turn facilitates the operation of the connector in hazardous conditions.
