Abstract: A paving machine is described. The paving machine includes a powertrain with a power unit. The power unit may include a diesel generator and a battery. The powertrain may also include one or more drivetrains. The drivetrains may include a hydraulic drivetrain and an electric drivetrain. The drivetrains may receive power from the power unit for supplying power to actuators of the hydraulic drivetrain and the electric drivetrain. The paving machine may be a curb-forming machine including the battery, the hydraulic drivetrain, and the electric drivetrain. The hydraulic drivetrain of the curb- forming machine may include a cylinder, crawler, steering assembly, and auger, and the electric drivetrain may include a vibrator. The paving machine may also include a number of other types of paving machines. Where the paving machine includes the hydraulic drivetrain, a buffer may be provided to ensure sufficient hydraulic power in response to demand changes.

Abstract: Techniques for controlling machines within an asphalt manufacturing plant are disclosed. For example, a control system operates in one or more of a remote mode, an alarm mode, and/or a local mode. The system receives a remote signal and transitions to the remote mode, where the system receives first motor parameters and transmits the first motor parameters to a motor. Upon receiving an alarm signal, the system transitions to the alarm mode. After detecting an alarm signal for a first threshold amount of time, causes an alarm to sound. After detecting the alarm signal for a second threshold amount of time followed by detecting a local signal, the system transitions to the local mode. When in the local mode, the system receives a second set of motor parameters from a local control interface via a second protocol and transmits the second set of motor parameters to the motor.

Abstract: Described herein are systems, methods, and other techniques for controlling a velocity of a construction machine operating within a construction site. Sensor data is captured using one or more sensors of the construction machine while the construction machine is moving at the velocity in a forward or a backward direction. An actual surface of the construction site is estimated based on the sensor data. A deviation between a target surface and the actual surface is calculated. An actual performance metric is calculated based on the deviation. The actual performance metric is compared to a target performance metric to determine a velocity adjustment. The velocity of the construction machine is adjusted by the velocity adjustment.

Abstract: A material transfer vehicle includes a frame, a plurality of ground-engaging drive assemblies that define a plane of locomotion, a front end and a rear end. A discharge conveyor is located at the rear end and is adapted to convey asphalt paving material to the receiving hopper of an asphalt paving machine. An engine provides the motive force for driving the ground-engaging drive assemblies and is located on the frame at the rear end of the material transfer vehicle behind the ground-engaging drive assemblies and below the discharge conveyor. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, a fuel tank and a hydraulic fluid tank are located between the ground-engaging drive assemblies.

Abstract: The invention provides a device for introducing plastic fibres into the ground. The device comprises a vehicle which can travel over the ground in a direction of movement and comprises a frame, a roll device for accommodating rolls of plastic fibres, a conveying device for conveying the fibres with respect to the frame from the rolls to respective introduction positions above the ground in which the fibres, in the associated introduction positions, extend parallel to the direction of movement and to each other, pin-shaped introducing members which are arranged in at least one row extending horizontally and perpendicularly to the direction of movement above the introduction positions, a cutting device for cutting through the fibres, and a first movement device for moving the introducing members with respect to the frame up and down between a top position and a bottom position, wherein, in the top position, bottom ends of the introducing members are situated above the introduction positions and, in the bottom position, the bottom ends of the introducing members are inserted in the ground for catching the fibres and pushing them into the ground during the downward movement of the introducing members from the top position to the bottom position by the introducing members. The cutting device comprises an elongate cutting member which extends perpendicular to the conveying direction and which is provided with a number of cutting teeth, which number is equal to the number of introduction positions, as well as a second movement device for moving the cutting member to and fro between an inactive position and an active position for cutting through every fibre with a cutting tooth during movement from the inactive position to the active position.
