The disclosed embodiments relate to a system and method that initializes a display device. An exemplary embodiment comprises scanning an input signal to determine the presence of a cable television signal, proceeding to normal operation of the to display device if the cable television signal is present in the input signal, scanning the input signal for an over-the-air television signal if the cable television signal is not present in the input signal, and providing a message indicating potential inappropriate reception of over-the-air signals if the over-the-air television signal is present in the input signal.

A system for generating a user interface described herein can include a processor to detect a type of the system based on hardware components residing within the system or coupled to the system and determine a user interface manager to execute based on the type of the system. The processor can also execute the user interface manager to generate a user interface for the system, wherein the type of the user interface manager comprises a plurality of rules to indicate a layout of the user interface.

In one example, a method includes detecting a position of a computing device and selecting a plurality of microphones to detect audio data based on the position of the computing device. The method can also include calculating location data corresponding to the audio data, the location data indicating the location of a user and modifying a far field gain value based on the location data.

Various techniques for reducing power consumption of a computing device are described herein. In one example, a method includes detecting that the computing device is to execute a first operation for a first hardware component. The method can also include determining that the computing device is not to execute a second operation for a second hardware component during a period of time. Furthermore, the method can include loading operation data corresponding to the first operation into a processor cache from a non-volatile storage device and detecting that the first operation is not to request memory data from a volatile storage device. The method can also include removing power from at least one storage device.

Techniques for encoding data are described herein. An example of a device in accordance with the present techniques includes a signaling module coupled to a plurality of digital inputs. The signaling module is to encode data received at the plurality of digital inputs to generate encoded data. Based on the encoded data, the signaling module can drive line voltages on a plurality of signal lines of a bus. Each one of the plurality of line voltages corresponds to a weighted sum of the data received at the plurality of digital inputs.

A method and system for encoding images using a 3D mesh of polygons and corresponding textures is disclosed herein. Depth information and image texture information may be obtained, and the 3D mesh of polygons may be calculated from the depth information. The corresponding textures may be determined using the image texture information, and both the 3D mesh of polygons and the corresponding textures may be encoded using at least one of a mesh frame, a texture frame, a change frame, or any combinations thereof.
