Abstract:
A block suitable for use in an arrangement of blocks that are interlocked. The block may comprise : a first side surface extending between a first edge and a second edge, the first side surface being irregular and having a first half and a second half that are congruent; a second side surface extending between the second edge and a third edge, the second side surface having a first half and a second half that are congruent; a third side surface extending between the first edge and a fourth edge, the third side surface being congruent with a first portion of the first side surface; a fourth side surface extending between the third edge and a fifth edge, the fourth side surface being congruent with a second portion of the first side surface such that the first portion and the second portion of the first side surface constitute the first side surface; and a fifth side surface extending between the fourth edge and the fifth edge, the fifth side surface having a first half and a second half that are congruent. The arrangement of blocks may be part of a paved surface, a wall or another structure, or may be used in various other applications.
Abstract:
A pre-fabricated concrete slab system and method have matching rectangular slabs with cooperatively fitting male and female type connectors (26, 32, 106, 118) which fit adjacent to each other in a checkerboard fashion. The slabs (10, 12, 100) include spaced reinforcing rods (18, 36, 102, 104) extending longitudinally and transversely therethrough. In at least some of the slabs, the rods' distal ends protrude outwardly away from one or more side edges of the slabs to form a plurality of male connectors (26, 106). Correspondingly, at least some of the slabs include a plurality of corresponding female sockets (32, 118) on one or more sides thereof, each female socket receiving a corresponding male connector when dropped therein. Through interconnection of corresponding female sockets and male connectors by steel reinforcing bars extending in both the longitudinal and transverse directions, a continuous tension reinforcement is established between adjacent slabs in both the longitudinal and transverse directions.
Abstract:
An artificial stone is disclosed for use in creating a covering a supporting surface. The artificial stone includes a base portion for placement on the supporting surface, which base portion is shaped as a right regular prism for patterned, fitting arrangement of the flagstone with like flagstones to produce a continuous surface covering. The base portion has a regular base contour. The stone further includes a top portion with a facing surface, the facing surface having an irregularly shaped top contour different from the base contour and an intermediate portion connecting the top portion with the base portion. The intermediate portion has an inclined wall extending between the top portion and a sidewall of the base portion. Stones of this construction can easily be arranged in a regular, repeated pattern to generate a continuous covering for the supporting surface without the surface of the resulting covering having a regular, patterned appearance. The irregular top contours of the stones, simulate the appearance of natural stone.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A portable porous pavement system includes a plurality of porous pavement units and a plurality of clamping devices, in which each of the porous pavement units is connected to an adjacent porous pavement unit by at least one clamping device. Each clamping device includes a first bracket and a second bracket. The first bracket defines a slot arrangement. The second bracket is in intimate communication with the slot arrangement of the first bracket. The second bracket has a twisted arrangement to secure the second bracket and the first bracket together. Two adjacent walls of two adjacent porous pavement units are sandwiched between the first bracket and the second bracket to secure the two adjacent porous pavement units together. A method for assembling a portable porous pavement system includes providing first and second porous pavement units; mounting a C-shaped clamp member over two adjacent walls of the first and second porous pavement unit; orienting the first and second porous pavement units with the C-shaped clamp member on a surface; providing a locking bracket having a U-shaped section extending between first and second slotted wings; mounting the locking bracket over the C-shaped clamp member by orienting the U-shaped section over the two adjacent walls, with the first arm going through the first slotted wing and the second arm going through the second slotted wing; and twisting the first arm and the second arm to secure the locking bracket and the C-shaped clamp member around the first and second porous pavement units.
Abstract:
A paver system comprising a plurality of paver pieces and at least one substrate. Each of the paver pieces has a top surface and a bottom surface. The bottom surface of the paver pieces is configured for mating with the upper surface of the substrate, whereby paver pieces coupled to the substrate are prevented from moving laterally.
Abstract:
A portable road mat including a body having a first end with a first face and a reciprocal second end with a second face. The first coupling is positioned at the first end and has a coupling portion extending from the first end comprising of two parts for the receiving of like positioned members of the second face on the second end. The first mat body further comprising a first side extending between said first end coupling and said second end coupling and a second side extending between said first coupling end and said second coupling end forming rectangular body. Said first side providing for at least one upwardly directed L or J-shaped connector on said first side; and at least one downwardly directed L or J-shaped connector on said second side to prevent lateral displacement of the mat sides.
Abstract:
