Abstract:
Disclosed herein are embodiments for operating a retail photo kiosk and establishing a dedicated access for a remote mobile device to the photo kiosk. Certain embodiments of the photo kiosk incorporate anchored connector cables to connect remote mobile devices to the photo kiosk. According to one embodiment, the photo kiosk detects when a remote mobile device is connected to the kiosk via an anchored connector cable. Upon receiving user information, the photo kiosk generates and sends an access message comprising to the connected mobile device. Following the access message, the user may establish dedicated access to the photo kiosk through the mobile device, which allows the user to utilize and leverage photo processing features of the kiosk.
Abstract:
A system is described whereby a classifier can label pages of a document. Preliminary classification can be performed on a page-by-page basis based on the content and form of each individual page. The system can then perform a sequence-based classification based on the preliminary classification of preceding and following pages. This approach can use a hidden Markov model and can result in more accurate page labels in a document
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present disclosure include a method that obtains a digital image. The method includes extracting a word block from the digital image. The method includes processing the word block by evaluating a value of the word block against a dictionary. The method includes outputting a prediction equal to a common word in the dictionary when a confidence factor is greater than a predetermined threshold. The method includes processing the word block and assigning a descriptor to the word block corresponding to a property of the word block. The method includes processing the word block using the descriptor to prioritize evaluation of the word block. The method includes concatenating a first output and a second output. The method includes predicting a value of the word block.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a conductive thermal image receiver element that has an aqueous coatable dye-receiving layer and an aqueous coatable receiver overcoat layer. The receiver overcoat layer comprises a conductive polymeric material and a two or more dispersants. The dye-receiving layer comprises a water-dispersible release agent, a crosslinking agent, and a polymer binder matrix consisting essentially of a water-dispersible polyester and a water-dispersible acrylic polymer. This invention also relates to a method for making this thermal image receiver element as well as method for using it to provide a dye image by thermal transfer from a donor element.
Abstract:
An image scanner system and method with document sorting capability that includes the ability to sort based on image content is described. A processor instructs drive motors and rollers of the transport system moving the document along a transport path within the scanner to stop movement, such that document is stopped at a position after it is imaged to provide time for the processor to analyze the image content and make a sorting decision. The transport system is then restarted and the document is delivered to a paper path switching mechanism to provide the physical sort. Based on the processing, the switching mechanism is positioned such that the document will follow a transport path into a desired output tray. The system may reverse the transport system to back up the document before being restarted in order to allow for paper path switching of longer documents.
Abstract:
The present application is directed to new methods for automatically and effectively combining multiple metrics to select interesting, or key, frames from a video sequence. In one aspect, the methods include selecting a reference frame from a video sequence and iteratively computing the improvement or gain in the combined metrics for candidate frames with respect to that reference frame. In another aspect, a master list of reference key frames is determined, quality metrics are calculated for each of a plurality of candidate frames associated with each reference key frame, and each reference key frame in the master list is replaced with a candidate frame that yields the greatest aggregate quality improvement over that reference key frame.

This invention relates to a conductive thermal image receiver element that has an aqueous-based coatable dye-receiving layer comprising a water-dispersible acrylic polymer, a water-dispersible polyester, a water-dispersible conductive polymeric material and a surfactant. This invention also relates to a method for making this thermal image receiver element as well as method for using it to provide a dye image by thermal transfer from a donor element.
Abstract:
A receiving well for use with a thermal dye sublimation printing apparatus is disclosed. The receiving well is used to receive cut sheets printed using the thermal dye sublimation printing. The receiving well includes two angled surfaces, referred to herein as ramps. The ramps are spaced apart from one another, and a waste area is positioned between the two ramps. The waste area captures the scrap or waste paper that can result from cutting the receiver media after printing. In some embodiments, both ramps slope down to the bottom surface of the receiving well. In other embodiments, one of the ramps is raised off the bottom surface of the receiving well at its lowest point. The waste area may also be offset such that it is closer to one side of the receiving well than the other.
Abstract:
A method of indicating a medium jam along a medium transport path comprising one or more rollers for use in conveying the medium along the medium transport path; a microphone for detecting the sound of the medium being conveyed and producing a signal representing the sound; a processor for producing sound values from the signal and computing a moving window sum responsive to the sound values; computing a high amplitude count responsive to the sound values; and computing a post roller sum responsive to the sound values; and indicating the medium jam responsive to the moving window sum, high amplitude count, or post roller sum.
Abstract:
A system for capturing an image of a document includes an input tray (30) for holding documents (20); an input imaging device (40) that captures an image of a first document in the input tray; wherein the input tray image of the first document is captured as an area image; transmitting the captured input tray image of the first document to an image processor (100); and transporting the first document to an output tray.
