Abstract:
An automatic document feeding system includes an image reader including an optical window and a light source illuminating the optical window, and an automatic document feeder including a reflective flag positioned within a viewing region of the optical window.
Abstract:
A method of determining document characteristics prior to processing the document (11) in a document scanner (10) includes capturing at least a portion of an input image of documents in an input tray (20); transmitting the images to a processor (65); determining characteristics of the documents; processing the document based on the characteristics; wherein at least one characteristic is document length (70) or width (80) or position or other characteristics; and disabling or enabling ultrasonic zones (160) in at least one location down the document based on at least one characteristic.
Abstract:
A sheet conveying apparatus(1E), including: a sheet conveying path(6); a reconveying path(6), which is branched from the sheet conveying path; a sheet conveying portion(1F) which conveys a sheet, which is conveyed through the sheet conveying path, selectively between in a forward direction and in a reverse direction toward the reconveying path; and a control portion which controls the sheet conveying portion to temporarily convey, in the middle that the sheet conveying portion conveys a preceding sheet in the reverse direction toward the reconveying path, the preceding sheet in the forward direction together with a succeeding sheet, and thereafter convey the preceding sheet in the reverse direction toward the reconvening path and the succeeding sheet in the forward direction respectively.
Abstract:
A method of scanning documents obtains the document that is to be scanned from an input tray, transports the document at a transport velocity past a scanner to obtain image data therefrom, and stacks each scanned document aligned with trailing-edge registration in a sloped output tray, in the order of scanning, by a sequence that detects the trailing edge of the scanned document, feeds the leading edge of the scanned document from an exit nip in a forward direction and above the sloped output tray at a transport velocity, then changes the speed at the exit nip to an exit velocity, different from the transport velocity, according to the timing of the trailing edge detection. The trailing edge of the scanned document is ejected at the exit velocity. The exit nip speed is restored to the transport velocity for feeding the leading edge of a subsequent document.
Abstract:
An electronic tag document attaching device comprises an electronic tag attachment abnormality detecting sensor (18) for detecting an attachment abnormality in an electronic tag, an electronic tag writer (5) for writing information to be concealed to the memory of the electronic tag in the middle of the delivery of a document on the downstream side of the electronic tag attachment abnormality detecting sensor, an electronic tag reader (6) for reading out the concealed information written to the memory of the electronic tag from the memory thereof in the middle of the delivery of a document on the downstream side of the electronic tag writer,a switching gate (7) for reversibly switching a delivery path from a document holding room to an error document holding room, and a controller (11) for checking the information read out by the electronic tag reader against the concealed information written by the electronic tag reader.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for automatic digitization of documents, especially documents located inside microfilm jackets, comprising a digital camera, a document support disposed beneath the camera and a lighting device mounted beneath the document support. The invention is characterized by the following steps: a) placing a stack of documents to be processed on a feed tray; b) automatic insertion of the bottom document on the feed tray into the document support; c) automatic alignment of the document support and the document in relation to the exposure area of the digital camera; d) automatic illumination and digitization of the documents and storage of captured data and e) automatic extraction of the document from the document support to the delivery tray. The invention is also characterized by sensor and computer-aided surveillance of the filling level of the document feed and delivery trays, the alignment of documents and the conveyance of documents from the feed tray to the document support and from the document support to the delivery tray.
Abstract:
A high speed document manipulator providing high resolution digital video-signal output. A document transport (10) moves the documents (2) at a high speed for entrance (1) flip-over (31) and exit (30), and at about one-fifth that speed for video scanning while moving for producing the video signal. Servo control (43) provides a forward and back initial motion to obtain top to bottom scanning. The servo circuit is electrically protected (70). The video sensor (18) is firmly coupled to the optical system (17). An elongated light source (20) elliptical reflector (21) and "cool" mirror (22) provide an elongated transverse illuminated area on the document as it moves through.
Abstract:
In an example, a scanning system includes a scanner device, a first bias member, and a second bias member. The example first bias member is able to apply pressure on a medium towards a scan surface of the scanner device (e.g., apply pressure at a scan zone defined by the boundaries of the scanner device) and the example second bias member is able to orient the medium towards the scan surface before the medium reaches the first bias member.
