Abstract:
A detachable bed handle providing support and mobility assistance for a user on a bed or similar furniture is disclosed. The detachable bed handle may couple with a base portion that can be mounted on a bed frame or bed base, or be positioned between a mattress and a box spring or bed base. The bed may be an adjustable (articulating) bed. The bed handle may have a gripping member that is shaped so as to avoid areas of potential entrapment of a user's body between the bed handle and the bed. Entrapment areas can be avoided both when the bed is in a nonarticulated state and when the bed is in an articulated state.
Abstract:
Devices used to restrict flow within a blood vessel are disclosed. Devices within the scope of this disclosure include a braided lattice of nitinol wires that form self-expanding enclosures of an embolic structure. The devices may further include embolic particles disposed within the enclosures. Methods of deploying the devices with the embolic particles are disclosed. Methods of manufacturing the devices with the embolic particles disposed within the enclosures are disclosed.
Abstract:
Controllers and methods of bulk explosive loading systems are disclosed. A controller of a bulk explosive loading system includes a communication interface configured to communicate with a human-machine interface (HMI). The HMI is configured to execute a software program configured to enable the HMI to receive user inputs from a user. The controller also includes control outputs to output control signals to electrically controllable components. The controller further includes sensor inputs configured to receive sensor signals from sensors configured to monitor the bulk explosive loading system. The controller also includes a processor configured to process recipe information received from the HMI, generate the control signals based on the recipe information to control the electrically controllable components to blend the mixture, process the sensor signals received during blending of the mixture, and transmit blending information to the HMI device. The blending information includes information regarding the blending of the mixture.
Abstract:
Devices used to cue a user to take a step when experiencing a walking disorder, such as a freezing of gait episode, are disclosed. The devices are configured to cue the user with a visual and/or audible cue. The devices include an activation module and a cueing module. The cueing module includes a metronome and a laser light source. The devices are mounted on an assistive mobility device or on the user.
Abstract:
Devices and methods for creating hemostasis at a subcutaneous vascular puncture are disclosed. The methods and devices may be used to close vascular punctures following trans- radial arterial procedures, e.g., catheterization and percutaneous coronary intervention. The devices may include a housing defining a suction chamber and an anvil disposed within the suction chamber.
Abstract:
Containers for collecting fluid are provided that include a reservoir comprising a plurality of panels enclosing an interior, side panels of the reservoir are movable from an expanded position towards to a compressed position and biased to the expanded position for generating a vacuum within the interior. An elongate housing extends along a top side of the reservoir including a passage extending between proximal and distal ends thereof and communicating with the interior of the reservoir. An elongate member extends through the housing including a distal extension, a proximal extension, and a lumen extending therebetween. One-way valves are coupled to the distal and proximal extensions for permitting fluid flow proximally from the distal extension into the interior of the reservoir via and permitting fluid flow proximally from the proximal extension while preventing fluid flow distally out the distal extension and distally into the proximal extension and lumen.
Abstract:
Devices having a shaft for creating cavities within tissue and articulating without twisting of the articulated shaft and methods for using such devices. Where such devices and methods include using of a device with keyed portions and key receiving portions that nest together upon articulation and optionally a torque limiter to allow for rotation of the shaft upon exceeding a torque limit. Method and devices also including such devices with energy application portions.
Abstract:
Medical devices and medical assemblies that have a lubricant disposed on an inner surface (e.g., balloons to be inflated within a cavity of a patient) are disclosed, along with related methods of use and manufacture. Such devices or assemblies may be passed through an elongate channel (e.g., a catheter channel or the working channel of an endoscope) and deployed distal of the elongate channel to adopt an expanded configuration. The devices or assemblies may then be compacted as they are withdrawn into the elongate channel after deployment. Some medical devices and assemblies comprising a lubricant on an inner surface of a balloon body may be more readily withdrawn into the elongate channel than embodiments that lack such a lubricant.
Abstract:
Various components of an interventional therapy assembly are disclosed. One such component is a pointer which may be configured to indicate the disposition of another portion or component of the assembly. A rotary indexing device which may be configured to control or facilitate rotation of other components is also disclosed. Further, various components of an elongate instrument having flexible segments and operative segments are also disclosed. In some embodiments, the elongate instrument may comprise a biopsy assembly and may be used in connection with other components of the disclosed assembly.
Abstract:
A catheter configured with an elongate tube and a diffuser is disclosed. The diffuser may be configured to facilitate high flow rates through the catheter and to resist blockage of openings disposed within the body. Further, the catheter may be comprised of flexible materials to facilitate delivery into and removal from the body. In some embodiments the diffuser may be generally disc shaped.
