Abstract:
A cigarette smoking cessation tool can include a container, a first door, a biasing device, and a motor. The container can have a body defining a first cavity with a first opening to cigarettes. The first door can include grooves and be mounted to selectively rotate and close the first opening of the first cavity. The biasing device can be at least partially disposed in the first cavity to urge the at least one row of cigarettes against the first door. The motor can rotate the first door and thereby align one of the grooves with the first cavity and allow the biasing device to urge at least one of the cigarettes of the at least one row of cigarettes through the first opening and into the one of the grooves.
Abstract:
An angio catheter for hemodialysis is disclosed. The angio catheter comprises a steel cylindrical element for introducing into a patient's blood vessel. The invention also includes a needle including a first lumen and a second lumen, each lumen hermetically separate from the other, wherein the needle is located within the cylindrical element. The invention further includes a first tube for supplying fluid to or from the first lumen and a second tube for supplying fluid to or from the second lumen, wherein fluid may flow within the first lumen independently from fluid flowing within the second lumen. The invention also includes a first flange extending perpendicularly from both sides of an offset neck of the needle and a second flange extending perpendicularly from both sides of the cylindrical element.
Abstract:
An apparatus for reinforcing adjacent parallel spaced apart wooden structural members. Each of the structural members extends between first and second edges. The apparatus comprises a rigid member having first and second ends and being sized to extend between adjacent first and second structural members. The apparatus further comprises a first socket connected to the first end of the rigid member sized to receive a first edge of the first structural member therein and a second socket connected to the second end of the rigid member. The second socket is sized to receive a first edge of the second structural member corresponding to the first edge of the first structural member therein.
Abstract:
An apparatus for reinforcing a plurality of adjacent parallel spaced apart wooden structural members to each other. Each of the structural members extends between first and second ends and has first and second edges. The apparatus comprises a ridged member extending between first and second ends and having a length sufficient to extend between two adjacent structural members. The apparatus further comprises a socket at each of the first and second ends of the rigid member. Each socket has a central axis therethrough and is formed of a base panel and first and second side panels. The socket is adapted to engage with a socket of an adjacent rigid member so as to interlink successive rigid members across a plurality of structural members.
Abstract:
A port and method for retaining a sheet of material within a wall. The port comprises an opening extending through the wall and a single slot extending radially therefrom. The method comprises twisting a free edge of the material into a cylindrical shape, inserting the cylindrical shape of the material through the opening and pulling the cylinder into the slot so as to secure the cylindrical shape therein. A container may also have a sidewall and at least one a port for retaining a sheet of material within a wall of the container extending therethrough. Each port comprises an opening extending through the wall and a single slot extending radially therefrom. The slot may include a stress relieving bore having an inverted tear-drop shape at a distal end thereof.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method and apparatus for protecting a foot of a user. The apparatus may be applied to an article of footwear having laces worn by the user or may be integral therewith. The apparatus comprises a first tongue guard portion engageable with a first portion of said laces so as to lie adjacent thereto and a second tongue guard portion pivotally supported f rom the first tongue guard portion and biased so as to lie adjacent to a second portion of the laces. The first and second tongue guard portions may comprise a rigid exterior shell and an interior cushioning layer disposed thereunder. The method comprises securing the first tongue plate to the article of footwear so as to lie adjacent to the first portion of the laces and biasing the second tongue so as to lie adjacent to a second portion of the laces.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an apparatus and method for dispensing non-adhesive tape carried on a spool to an article wherein the spool has a spool bore therethrough. The apparatus comprises a casing having a casing bore therethrough adapted to rotatably receive a support member therein. The apparatus further comprises a spool support for resistively and rotatably supporting the spool around the casing bore and a dispenser portion located in the casing for dispensing the non-adhesive tape therethrough. The method comprises supporting the casing on a support member located within the casing bore and securing a free end of the tape to the article through a dispenser portion of the casing. The method further comprises rotating the spool within the casing as to unwind the non-adhesive tape while the casing is moved around the article with the dispenser portion maintained in radial alignment with the article.
Abstract:
A training assembly structured to facilitate a swing motion of a user, during performance of a sports activity, including a receiver and a transmitter both mounted on predetermined portions of the user's body, such as the hip and arm. The arm mounted transmitter is movable relative to the receiver and is structured to communicate and activating signal to the receiver when disposed a predetermined distance there from, representative of a reactive segment of the swing motion. The receiver is structured to generate and deliver and indicating signal to the user for purposes of indicating that the reactive segment of the swing motion has been reached. The reactive segment is thereby determinative of when the user instigates a complementary adjustment of the user's body, during the swing motion, such as rotating the user's hips during a preferred part of the swing motion.
