    Abstract: A method of determining beryllium or a beryllium compound thereof in a sample is disclosed by measuring fluorescence. This method discloses use of highly alkaline fluorescent indicating dye solutions with pH greater than 12.9. In a preferred embodiment the fluorescent indicating dye solutions do not contain a pH buffer. Further, the method also discloses measuring fluorescence under highly alkaline conditions, where the pH after mixing the highly alkaline fluorescent indicating dye solutions with the sample solution containing beryllium is at least 11, preferably 12. The use of highly alkaline solution provides superior detection limits for beryllium by using dilution ratios of 4X and lower.

    Abstract: A wheel chair with several new and useful features is provided. Those new and useful features provide the wheel chair with enhanced lateral stability, automatic cocking of an automatic locking device whenever an occupant sits in the wheel chair, and a holding mechanism that enables the wheel chair to be freely wheeled about when there is no occupant, and automatically move to a cocked state as soon as an occupant sits on the chair. The result is an automatic locking system for a manual wheelchair that unlocks the wheels for intentional motion when the chair is occupied, and locks the wheelchair wheels immediately when it is unoccupied, yet in no way interferes with the typical locking mechanism of the standard manual wheelchair when so desired.

    Abstract: A new and useful method and inductive circuit is provided that provides a resonant transition control that involves shorting the winding of an inductor or transformer to delay the natural ringing transition. The present invention provides for controlling the natural ring of an inductive circuit has a choke that stores and releases energy.a switch device having a closed state in which it causes the choke to store energy and another switch device having a dosed state in which it causes the choke to release energy. The inductive circuit is configured with parasitic capacitance that would normally produce natural ringing when energy in the choke has been substantially released. The invention provides for shorting the choke to trap and hold current and pause the natural ringing until power is directed to the inductive circuit to release shorting of the choke and initiate storage of energy in the choke.

    Abstract: A new and useful method and system for correcting for ghost images in a telecentric optical system is provided. Ghost images generated from planar optical surfaces in the image space after the major elements of a telecentric optical system are shift invariant. In other words the ghost images produced by these optical elements do not change their shape with different field angles or points. The ghost image's invariance with field position will allow the ghost image to be subtracted or removed from the image of an object recorded on a digital detector such as CCD or CMOS detector when its optical system is telecentric in image space. This subtraction may be accomplished, for example, with a removal technique using a measured ghost function germane and invariant to that particular optical system. The combination of the ghost image and scatter functions is linearly shift invariant and therefore, both noise contributions could be removed from the resulting digital image using similar removal techniques.
