Abstract: An automated external defibrillator (AED) and methods for reducing the delay between termination of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and administration of a defibrillating shock, among other disclosed apparatus and methods. In one embodiment, the AED includes an ECG sensor that obtains an ECG signal corresponding to patient heart activity and a prompting device that provides instructions regarding cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The AED also has a control system including a microprocessor programmed to run two rhythm analysis algorithms after instructions to terminate CPR. The two rhythm analysis algorithms analyze segments of the ECG signal for recognizing the presence of a shockable rhythm, with one algorithm having a delayed start relative to the other algorithm. The AED additionally includes a therapy generation circuit for treating the shockable rhythm with a defibrillation pulse in response to the control system determining the presence of a shockable rhythm.

Abstract: An embodiment is directed to pressure plate for attachment to an infusion pump, where the pressure plate includes a tubing support surface at least partially surrounded by a raised perimeter support. The pressure plate includes a plurality of guide structures extending from the raised perimeter support that define a passageway for an infusion pump tube. Additionally an attachable flow stop assembly is included that includes an attachable occlusion arch and an attachable flow stop arm. The attachable occlusion arch includes a plurality of tab structures that couple to the raised perimeter support. The occlusion arch further includes an aperture configured to surround an infusion pump tube threaded therethrough. The attachable flow stop arm is operatively coupled to the raised perimeter support adjacent the attachable occlusion arch in a spring-biased fashion such that the aperture in the occlusion arch may be selectively occluded by the flow stop arm.

Abstract: A protection circuit for a direct-current (DC) ablation prostate therapy system. The protection circuit is selectively coupled to a power source that provides DC constant current to a plurality of electrodes in a catheter configured to deliver DC ablation therapy to prostate tissue. The protection circuit is controlled by a controller and a switching circuit to buffer energy from the power source in response to a monitoring circuit that monitors at least one parameter of the DC ablation therapy, such as voltage or impedance. The controller is configured to selectively activate the switching circuit based on the monitoring circuit detecting an undesirable increase in the energy delivered for the DC ablation therapy.
