Abstract:
A pre-finished piston part is disclosed that may be used to form a piston assembly. A pre-finished piston may include a lower part defining a piston axis, the lower part having a skirt and forming a lower surface of a cooling gallery. The lower part may include a radially inner bowl surface defining a lower part radially inner mating surface. The pre-finished piston assembly may further include an upper part having a radially outer bowl surface meeting the radially inner bowl surface at a radially inner joint. The upper part may include a radially inner wall defining a radially inner upper part mating surface. The radially inner wall may define a radially inwardly facing surface that defines a non-parallel angle with the radially inner bowl surface where the radially inner bowl surface meets the radially innermost edge of the radially inner mating surface.
Abstract:
An exemplary system and method for welding a piston assembly includes a piston assembly having a cooling gallery and a loose granulated medium positioned therein. The cooling gallery is formed by a piston body and a cooling gallery ring, and a welder such as a laser welder is positioned proximate the assembly to weld the piston body to the cooling gallery ring. During welding, the assembly is rotated and the loose granulated medium is caused to remain in a gravitationally low portion of the cooling gallery. The weld is formed in an area proximate the loose granulated medium such that weld spatter emitted during welding is emitted into the loose granulated medium.

A power circuit configured to generate and distribute DC electrical power, the power circuit includes a photovoltaic (PV) system that includes an array of PV modules electrically coupled to a combiner box, and an inverter positioned to receive DC electrical power from the array of PV modules and output AC electrical power. The PV system also includes a signal generator coupled to a first portion of the PV system, and a signal detector coupled to a second portion of the PV system, the signal detector configured to detect secondary signals generated at a loose connection of an electrical joint in the PV system, wherein the secondary signals result from a signal generated by the signal generator.
Abstract:
Pistons and methods of making the same are disclosed. An exemplary piston assembly may include a piston crown and skirt. The crown may include a crown collar wall extending downward toward a free end of the crown collar wall. The skirt may include a pair of oppositely disposed pin bosses that each define piston pin bores configured to receive a piston pin for securing a connecting rod between the pin bosses. The skirt may further include a radially inner skirt mating surface abutted along a radially inner interface region with the radially inner crown mating surface, and a radially outer skirt mating surface abutted along a radially outer interface region with the radially outer crown mating surface such that a cooling gallery is substantially enclosed. The skirt may further include an inner collar wall extending upwards to the free end of the crown collar wall.
Abstract:
A piston assembly (20) and method of making the same are disclosed. An exemplary piston assembly (20) may include a multi-piece skirt (24) secured to a piston crown (22) having a ring belt portion defining a cooling gallery (56). The crown (22) may include one or more a struts (30) extending away from the ring belt portion to define a wrist pin bore(s) (32). The piston skirt (24) assembly may include two separate portions that each have at least one skirt support (80) securing the respective skirt portion to the strut. A cover plate (50) may be provided that is secured between a radially inner surface of the ring belt portion of the crown (22) and a radially outer surface of the strut (30), such that the cover plate (50)defines in part the cooling gallery (56).
Abstract:
Exemplary methods for manufacturing a wire and resultant wires are disclosed herein. The method includes extruding a receptor cross-linkable polymer that is substantially free of curing agent about a conductive core and extruding a donor polymer in association with a curing agent. The method includes disposing the donor polymer about the receptor polymer and conductive core to create a multi-layer wire pre-product. The method also includes heat curing a multi-layer wire pre-product to form a wire.
Abstract:
A full flow quick connect fluid coupling that reduces spillage using a convex and a concave ball valve mounted each in a separate coupling body that are joined together where the ball valves seal together and are sequentially rotated using one activation lever to first rotate a first ball valve 90 degrees and then rotating a second ball valve 90 degrees using a gear drive mechanism. A handle button release lock and a secondary handle lock ensure that the valves are not opened until the bodies are joined and locked together in sealing engagement. A lock mechanism is used to lock the bodies together and to provide a lock tab that prevents the ball valves from being opened until the lock mechanism is closed.
Abstract:
An electrically conductive hose cutting ring (10, 10') is shaped to provide a cutting edge for penetration of the inner layer (s) (142) of a multiple layer fluid conveyance hose (40) when it is forced onto a fluid connector (14). The cutting action by the cutting blade provides for a relatively low resistance electrical connection between an electrically conductive layer (44) of the hose and the fluid connector. This can be used to provide a signal path from a sensing element on the hose to a system electronic component.
Abstract:
An electrically conductive hose cutting clip (10) has at least one end tab (14, 16) that is shaped to provide a cutting edge for penetration of the inner layer (s) (42) of a multiple layer fluid conveyance hose (40) when it is clipped onto a fluid connector (18) and the hose is installed on the fluid connector by forcing it onto the connector. The cutting action by the cutting clip provides for a relatively low resistance electrical connection between an electrically conductive layer (44) of the hose and the fluid connector. This can be used to provide a signal path from a sensing element on or in the hose to a system electronic component.
Abstract:
An application controls an online auction event. In the auction event, a user is provided a first selectable option for setting a bid value and a second selectable option for placing a bid at the bid value. A countdown value maintained by the server and provided to the computing device is set to an initial value at the beginning of the auction event, begins decreasing from the initial value according to a mathematical formula, and decreases to a final value at the end of the auction event. If the application receives a bid from the computing device during the auction event as a result of a user selecting the second selectable option and the application determines that the bid is a super bid, the application overrides the mathematical formula and adjusts the countdown value to a new value.
