Abstract: The present invention provides crystalline tetrabenzyl voglibose with the following physical properties: there are peaks at 2?=16.84±0.20°C, 18.99±0.20°and 24.11±0.20°of its Cu X-ray powder diffraction spectrum, and its melting point is 88.0°C~90.8°C. The present invention also provides a method for preparing the said crystal and a method of using the said crystal to prepare voglibose with high purity. Since the crystalline tetrabenzyl voglibose has higher purity and content than the oily tetrabenzyl voglibose, it can be stored and transported more easily, can be fetched and weighed more conveniently and when it is used to prepare voglibose, less impurity would be introduced or produced in the reaction.

Abstract: Provided are half-hydrated crystal of voglibose and the preparation thereof. Said half-hydrated crystal has the molecular formula of C 10 H 21 NO 7 0.5H 2 O and the powder X-ray diffraction pattern with peaks of 2?=9.64±0.2, 16.08±0.2, 18.34±0.2, 19.26±0.2, 21.92±0.2 and 22.42±0.2 degree.
