Abstract: A collapsible cervical collar (1) is disclosed with an elongated neck encircling band (2) and a chin support brace (3). The chin support brace (3) has first (26) and second (27) ends and a concave edge (28) separating the first (26) and second (27) ends. A hinge (29) connects the elongated neck encircling band (2) to the chin support brace (3). The hinge (29) enables the chin support brace (3) to rotate more than 180 degrees relative to the elongate neck encircling band (2) from an inoperable or flat condition to an operable three-dimensional condition.

Abstract: This invention is an improved cervical collar (10) having an elongated neck encircling band (12), a chin support brace (14), a sternum and shoulder brace (15), and adjustment system secured to the sternum and shoulder brace (15), and the elongated neck encircling band (12) for adjusting the height of the sternum and shoulder brace (15) in relation to the elongated neck encircling band (12). The adjustment system is designed to lock the sternum and shoulder brace (15) in position preventing further extension of the sternum and shoulder brace (15) in relation to the elongated neck encircling band (12) as well as preventing retrograde movement of the sternum and shoulder brace (15) in relation to the neck encircling band (12). The collar also includes a positive alignment tracking system for maintaining the sternum and shoulder brace (15) in parallel alignment with the elongated neck encircling band (12) as the height of the sternum and shoulder brace (15) is adjusted.
