Abstract: A cranking device for internal combustion engines comprises a transmission, a starter, and a pinion. A toothed drive belt (12) transmits the force of the starter motor (15) to the pinion (3), which is supported on a transmission shaft (2). The starter motor (15) has a drive shaft (14) the front end (13) of which has grooves (16) and ribs (17) which ensure optimal force transmission from the drive shaft (14) to the pinion (3).
