Abstract:
A disposable absorbent article having at least one deployable belt strip. The belt strip has a fixed end portion disposed in one of the waist regions and opposing first and second edges connecting the fixed end portion and an opposing free end portion. The belt strip is attached in the fixed end portion and is deployed by being folded laterally outward such that the first edge extends laterally outward from one end point of a diagonal fold line and the second edge extends laterally outward from the opposing end point of the diagonal fold line. The belt strip may be tied to another belt strip or may be fastened to the waist region of the article or to another belt strip.
Abstract:
An absorbent article is provided that comprises a front waist region, a back waist region, a crotch region disposed between the front waist region and the back waist region, a front waist end edge, a back waist end edge, a longitudinal axis extending from a mid-point of the front waist end edge to a mid-point of the back waist end edge, a first longitudinally extending side edge, a second longitudinally extending side edge, an exterior surface, an interior surface, a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between the backsheet and the topsheet. A portion of the front waist region and a portion of the back waist region are joined in a surface to surface relationship to form a pant comprising a first permanent side edge seam and a laterally opposed second permanent side edge seam. The first and second permanent side edge seams define an initial waist opening circumference and a pair of leg openings. The absorbent article comprises a first fastening component comprising a first fastening surface and a first attachment surface. The first attachment surface is disposed on the interior surface or the exterior surface of the absorbent article in the front waist region. The absorbent article comprises a second fastening component comprising a second fastening surface. The second fastening component is disposed on or forms a portion of the same surface of the absorbent article on which the first attachment surface is disposed. The initial waist opening circumference formed by the first and second permanent side edge seams is configured to be opened. The first fastening surface and the second fastening surface are configured to be refastenably engaged and separated with each other.

Abstract:
Aspects of the present disclosure involve fluid partitioning characteristics of removable and replaceable absorbent core components used with disposable absorbent articles. A replaceable core component can be constructed to have fluid partitioning characteristics that reduce the need to replace the chassis of the absorbent article as often as well as providing comfort to the wearer. The more fluid a replaceable core component absorbs and extracts from the chassis results in correspondingly less fluid that will remain in the chassis when the replaceable core component is removed and replaced. The ability of a replaceable core component to absorb and extract fluid from the chassis of an absorbent article may be evaluated by measuring the fluid partitioning values of the replaceable core component and absorbent article. Fluid partitioning values provide an indication of the percentage of a quantity of fluid discharged into the chassis that is absorbed by the replaceable core component.

Abstract:
Various stiffness characteristics of removable and replaceable absorbent core components used with disposable absorbent articles are disclosed. The replaceable core component can be constructed with bending stiffness characteristics making it easier to install in a diaper chassis. In other instances, a relatively stiff insertion tool may also be used to engage a relatively flexible replaceable core component to aid with insertion of the replacaeable core component into the diaper chassis. Aspects of the present disclosure involve replaceable core components alone or in combination with insertion tools having bending stiffness characteristics that reduce the likelihood of buckling and/or folding while installing the replaceable core component into the diaper chassis. The present disclosure also provides methods for testing replaceable core components and/or insertion tools to evaluate the bending stiffness characteristics associated therewith.
Abstract:
A disposable absorbent article including a chassis and an absorbent assembly. The chassis is folded laterally inward and outward in a zigzag pattern to form laterally opposing layered containment pockets and laterally opposing side flaps interiorly of the layered containment pockets. Each side flap has a longitudinally extending elastic gathering member attached adjacent to its distal edge. The absorbent assembly includes an absorbent core that may contain superabsorbent particles, which may be contained inside pockets.
