    Abstract: An optical fiber cable is disclosed that includes an outer jacket and a plurality of cores including a first core and a second core. A plurality of channels can extend outwardly from the second core toward the outer jacket. The outer jacket can include a material doped with a photoluminescent material configured to absorb energy from light propagating along the second core causing photoluminescence. The optical fiber cable may include cladding surrounding the first and second cores and the plurality of channels. The first core may propagate a first laser beam having wavelength of substantially 1940 nanometers while the second core and the plurality of channels may propagate a second laser beam having a wavelength of within the range of 360 - 830 nanometers. A system for providing a medical treatment including a first medical instrument optically coupled to the optical fiber cable is also disclosed.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein are intermittent-catheter assemblies and methods thereof. An intermittent-catheter assembly includes, in some embodiments, a collapsible catheter housing and an intermittent catheter. The catheter housing can include an inner sleeve and an outer sleeve slidably mounted over the inner sleeve. Alternatively, the catheter housing can include an outer sleeve and a collapsible outer cover coupled to the outer sleeve. The intermittent catheter includes a funnel and a catheter tube coupled to the funnel. The intermittent-catheter assembly has a storage state and an opened state. In the storage state, the intermittent catheter is sealed within the catheter housing. In the opened state, the catheter housing is collapsed exposing the funnel of the intermittent catheter for removal of the intermittent catheter from the catheter housing. Methods of the intermittent-catheter assemblies include a method of using an intermittent-catheter assembly.

    Abstract: A urinary-catheter package (100) includes a container (120) including a urinary catheter (110) and a lubricant (140). The urinary catheter includes a catheter tube (112) and a drainage lumen extending through the urinary catheter, the drainage lumen fluidly coupling a plurality of eyelets in a distal-end portion of the catheter tube with an opening in a proximal end of the urinary catheter. The container includes a catheter section (122), a lubricant section (124) in a distal-end portion of the container, and a separator (126) between the catheter section and the lubricant section. The catheter section is configured to hold the urinary catheter, and the lubricant section is configured to hold the lubricant.     Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to a fluid collection system that can relax dependent loops. The system includes a drainage tube and a container, the tube is slidably engaged with an aperture of the container to allow a portion of the tube to be inserted therein. Embodiments can include a seal to prevent fluids or gases escaping, and a sleeve to mitigate introducing CATTTI causing agents into the system. Embodiments can also include a slide assembly to pull a proximal portion of the tube into the collection container. Shortening a communication length of the tube relaxes dependent loops, which can provide a substantially continuous negative incline between the distal end and the proximal end of the drainage tube. Relaxing dependent loops in this way can mitigate urine pooling within the drainage tube that can harbor CAETTI causing agents.

    Abstract: A sealant delivery apparatus for use in a lung access procedure to aid in preventing pneumothorax includes a sealant applicator device and an injection needle assembly. The injection needle assembly has a hub and an elongate hollow stylet. The hub is configured for removable connection to the sealant applicator device. The elongate hollow stylet is configured to facilitate fluid communication with at least one output port of the sealant applicator device to receive a multi-component sealant. The elongate hollow stylet has a proximal portion, a distal portion having a closed distal end, and a plurality of side ports proximal to the closed distal end. The plurality of side ports radially extend from a lumen and through a side wall of the elongate hollow stylet in the distal portion. The plurality of side ports are in fluid communication with the at least one output port of the sealant applicator device.

    Abstract: An apparatus for cutting a wall of a vessel (V), such as scoring or slicing a lesion (L) associated therewith. The device includes a cutter (10) with a single shaft (12) having a branched portion including at least two radially expandable arms. A first (16) of the expandable arms includes at least one blade (20) for slicing or scoring the lesion (L) when expanded. A second (18) of the expandable arms may also include a blade (20), or may have no blade. A sheath (S) may also be provided.     Abstract: A biopsy tract sealant applicator device includes a housing and a syringe having a body that is configured to move in an interior chamber of the housing between an extended position and a retracted position. The body is configured for connection to a biopsy cannula. A plunger of the syringe has a piston configured to move in a cylinder of the syringe between a proximal position and a distal position. The spring unit is coupled to the body of the syringe and to the housing. A gear train is operatively coupled to each of the housing, the body of the syringe, and the plunger of the syringe. The gear train is configured to move the plunger of the syringe from the proximal position toward the distal position as the body is moved from the extended position toward the retracted position by a biasing force exerted by the spring unit.

    Abstract: A biopsy device includes a device housing, a linear motor, and a controller circuit. The controller circuit has a processor circuit, a first feedback circuit, and a second feedback circuit. The first feedback circuit and the second feedback circuit operate simultaneously. The processor circuit executes program instructions to control an axial advancement of the distal end of the linear motor shaft in accordance with a linear motor shaft advancement profile based on first control signals received from at least one drive characteristic sensor of the first feedback circuit, and executes program instructions to keep the distal end of the linear motor shaft at a constant axial position, as offset by the position indicated by the linear motor shaft advancement profile, based on second control signals received from the housing position detector of the second feedback circuit so as to compensate for user movement of the device housing.
