Abstract: A controlled sequence of explosions of calculated amounts of exploding materials inside an explosion chamber, efficiently transfers a quantity of motion between a massive hammer obstructing the explosion chamber and a lighter dancer placed inside a compression chamber of an inert and non¬ flammable gas. A one-way valve communicates the compression chamber with a structurally strong tank, allowing the gas to be conveyed from the chamber to the tank. The initial speed of the dancer is gradually damped by the compression of gas inside the chamber down to zero, at steady state utilization, before impact with the one-way valve, opened by pressure generated in the chamber and immediately closed. Withdrawal of small amounts of gas at very high pressure from the tank by pressure reducers and its subsequent expansion in contact with a mechanical actuator, such as a turbine spliced to the shaft of an alternator, means that a large amount of useful work at very high efficiency can be obtained.
