Abstract: Electronic Tags are mounted on swimmers to reduce their risk of drowning by identifying when their heads are underwater for periods of time which may indicate a dangerous submersion situation, and for triggering corresponding alerts and alarms. In this method, each monitored person is equipped with a lightweight electronic Tag worn on the body that communicates with monitors that issue the alerts and alarms, including audible and visible distress signals. The monitors, in turn, communicate the alarms to receivers used by supervisory personnel, such as lifeguards or parents. The invention may be used in aquatic environments, such as public recreation facilities, pools, waterfronts, and water parks, as well as in more private settings, such as homes, apartment buildings or hotels.

Abstract: A smoothly adjustable table stand comprises a bent vertical pole, a horizontal boom and a gripper for holding a tablet computer. The bent vertical pole allows for a shallow arc for vertical adjustment of the position of tablet computer while at the same time allows for a tight arc for horizontal movement of a tablet away from a user. The horizontal boom may be attached to the top of the bent vertical pole by a large diameter T joint. The large diameter T joint comprises a first friction plate, a second friction plate, a lubricant and a means for urging the friction plates together. The lubricant is disposed between the friction plates. The gripper may be attached to the distal end of the boom by a magnetic ball joint. The magnetic ball joint may comprise a lubricant disposed between the ball and socket.

The water sensing electrode circuit may be combined with a swim band comprising shrouded electrodes mounted on each side of a swimmers head. The combined swim band and water sensing electrode circuit will reliably and rapidly sense water immersion and removal in different waters with a broad range of electrical conductivities.
