Abstract: A water sensing electrode circuit comprises a voltage source; first electrode; second electrode; first resistor; second resistor; and an inverting comparator with an internal reference voltage, V c ; wherein: said voltage source, first electrode, second electrode, first resistor and second resistor are connected in series; and the negative input of said voltage comparator is attached to the junction of said first and second resistor. The water sensing electrode circuit may be combined with a swim band comprising shrouded electrodes mounted on each side of a swimmers head. The combined swim band and water sensing electrode circuit will reliably and rapidly sense water immersion and removal in different waters with a broad range of electrical conductivities.
