Contacts are adapted to connect wires therewith so as to establish electrical connection between the contacts of the functional module and the contacts of the contact module. In addition, a telecommunications module includes at least one functional module and at least one contact module. An assembly of two or more telecommunications modules and a kit of parts are described. A method of installing a telecommunications module include installing a contact module then fitting a functional module to the contact module.
Abstract:
The invention provides a functional module for a double-sided termination strip 1 for a telecommunications system, the strip comprising two rows of contact elements 4 along a first side 9 of the strip and two rows of contact elements 4 along an opposed second side 10 of the strip, the contact elements of the first and the second side being accessible for connecting wires 12 therewith. The functional module, which is mounted to the opposed second side of the strip, comprises a housing 21, a printed circuit board 29 with functional elements, the printed circuit board being arranged in the housing, wherein the housing further comprises at least one wire guide element 22, 32, 33, 34, 39 for guiding wires that are connected to the contact elements of the strip.
Abstract:
A telecommunications module comprises a termination strip (1) having two rows of contacts (13) along a first side (9) of the strip and two rows of contacts along an opposed second side (10) of the strip, and a mounting mechanism (15) at each end of the strip by which the strip is removably-mounted on a carrier (3) with a selected one of the first and second sides (9, 10) accessible for making connections to contacts on that side. At least one of the mounting mechanisms (15) is engageable in an opening (11A, 46) in the carrier whereby the strip can be mounted on the carrier in one orientation only with the first side (9) accessible, and in only one orientation with the second side (10) accessible.
Abstract:
A back mount frame (1) for use in a telecommunications assembly has at least one access aperture (9) therein and comprises a cable-fixing structure (10, 11) to which at least one cable can be attached without obstructing the access aperture(s). The access aperture (9) provides access to a telecommunications component mounted in the carrier and/or provides passage for at least one cable or cable assembly. A telecommunications assembly is described in which at least one telecommunications component (40a-d) is releasably-mounted on the carrier; at least one cable (20, 23) is attached to the cable-fixing structure and some, at least, of the wires of the cable are connected to the telecommunications component; and a cable/ cable assembly (50) passes through the/an access aperture (9) in the carrier and is connected to the telecommunications component.
Abstract:
A telecommunications module (10) has a housing (12) and at least one contact comprising at least one first contact element (14) located adjacent a receiving space (24) for receiving at least one outside contact (30), the contact element (14) having, in a portion bordering the receiving space (24), both a flexible zone (26) and a zone (28), which is less flexible than the flexible zone (26) and/or supported so as to exhibit a restrained deformability by force acting thereon from the side of the receiving space (24). Furthermore, an assembly of a telecommunications module and at least one outside module and a method of using a telecommunications module are disclosed.
Abstract:
A functional module (10) in the field of telecommunications is fittable to a telecommunications module and comprises at least one flexible handle (12) on at least one side (18, 20) thereof. A method of installing and/or handling a functional module in the field of telecommunications comprises the steps of: - releasably fitting the functional module comprising at least one flexible release handle to a telecommunications module comprising at least one contact for the connection of a wire therewith, - grasping the handle of the functional module, - applying a pulling force to the handle to thereby remove the functional module from the telecommunications module.
Abstract:
A telecommunications module has a front, a rear, a top, a bottom and two side faces. Contacts are exposed on the front face. The front face is exposed in a mounted state so as to allow the connection of wires and/or plugs with the contacts. At least one connector for receiving a complementary connector from the top, the bottom or a side, is provided on at least one of the top, the bottom and the side faces. Also provided is a combination that includes at least one telecommunications module and at least one carrier, which is adapted to allow the telecommunications module to be mounted thereon.
Abstract:
A termination strip (1) for a telecommunications module comprising at least one pair of contact elements (50) arranged side-by-side, each terminating in contacts (13) on opposed longitudinal sides (9, 10) of the strip for connection to a wire pair of a telecommunications cable. Each contact element comprises: (i) two end regions (52) that terminate in contacts on respective longitudinal sides of the termination strip and are substantially aligned with one another along the longitudinal axis of the contact element, and (ii) a narrower central region (51) between the end regions, located substantially on one side of the longitudinal axis. One of the end regions comprises a resilient contact region (53) extending from the end region substantially on the other side of the longitudinal axis and engageable by an external component inserted into the termination strip from one of the opposed longitudinal sides. The contact elements are substantially identical but turned through 180° relative to one another with the narrower central regions adjacent one another.
