    Abstract: A solar heat collector is disclosed, comprising a storage tank for holding liquid to be heated using solar energy, at least one vacuum chamber to at least partially enclose the storage tank, and a transparent heat mirror cover to allow sunlight to enter the solar heat collector to heat the storage tank and to also contain the associated solar energy within the collector. In an example embodiment, an outer wall of the storage tank defines a heat absorber and transfer plate, with the transparent heat mirror cover being arranged to cover the heat absorber and transfer plate. In an example embodiment, the transparent heat mirror cover allows incoming sunlight to pass through but reflects infrared radiation back to the heat absorber and transfer plate. Alternatively, the transparent heat mirror cover comprises a transparent clear glass cover with a reflective underside.
