Abstract:
Described herein are devices and methods for irrigating and suctioning fluids from the lumens or cavities of a mammalian body. The devices include a malleable irrigation tube and a suction tube that is slidably mounted upon the irrigation tube.
Abstract:
In an example, a headrest for a procedure chair includes a headrest backing, a cushion coupled to the headrest backing, a rail coupled to the headrest backing and configured to support a diagnostic device, and an adapter coupled to the headrest backing and configured to couple to a procedure chair. At least one component chosen from the rail and the adapter is formed from an austenitic stainless steel material.
Abstract:
Disclosed embodiments relate to an endoscopic camera and methods for operating the camera. In one embodiment, the endoscopic camera includes a grip region to facilitate holding by a user. The camera may also include a mechanism for correcting improperly exposed video signals by modulating illumination parameters.
Abstract:
A method of dilating an infundibular space within the human head includes directing at least a distal portion of an elongate member of a medical device into a nasal cavity of the human head, the distal portion including a piercing tip and an expandable portion. The piercing tip is directed through tissue of an uncinate process or tissue near an uncinate process and into an ethmoid infundibulum and the expandable portion of the distal end is expanded within the ethmoid infundibulum.
Abstract:
A balloon dilation catheter includes a substantially rigid inner guide member and a movable shaft coupled to a balloon that is slidably mounted on the substantially rigid inner guide member. To treat a sinus cavity of a subject using the balloon dilation the substantially rigid inner guide member is advanced into a drainage pathway of the sinus (e.g., frontal recess) of the subject via a nasal passageway. The shaft and balloon are advanced in a distal direction over the substantially rigid inner guide member to place the balloon in the drainage pathway. The balloon is inflated to expand or otherwise remodel the drainage pathway.
Abstract:
A system for delivering a therapeutic agent to a patient's ethmoid sinus cavity includes an injection device. The injection device includes an elongate member having a proximal end and distal end at a lumen extending between the proximal end and the distal end, the distal end of the elongate member comprising a sharpened tip or needle, the elongate member having sufficient columnar strength such that advancement of the sharpened tip or needle into the ethmoid sinus cavity, the elongate member does not buckle. The system further includes a dispensing device adapted to hold the therapeutic agent, the dispensing device being configured for coupling to the proximal end of the elongate member.

Abstract:
A method of treating a constricted sinus passageway of a patient includes traversing the canine fossa region of the patient so as to form a passageway in the sinus cavity. A cannula is positioned in the passageway. A visualization tool such as an endoscope is passed through a lumen or channel in the cannula to aid in visualization of the anatomical site of interest. A balloon dilation catheter is then deployed through or along the cannula so as to place the balloon within or across the constricted anatomical space (e.g., ostium). The balloon is then expanded so as to expand at least a portion of the constricted anatomical space. Alternative embodiments include the use of an optional guide wire and incorporating an endoscope lumen through the balloon dilation catheter.

A method of treating a constricted sinus passageway of a patient includes traversing the canine fossa region of the patient so as to form a passageway in the sinus cavity. An elongate member is inserted through the passageway, the elongate member having an inflation member such as a balloon disposed thereon. The inflation member is positioned within the constricted passageway. The inflation member is expanded so as to expand at least a portion of the constricted sinus passageway.
