Abstract:
The present disclosure relates generally to systems, devices, and methods for supporting, stabilizing, and/or positioning a medical device, such as a transcatheter medical device. The stabilizer allows for control of degrees of freedom from no movement to free movement to selective movements, to substantially translation only movement and/or to substantially rotational only movement of the medical device. The patent describes pure mechanical embodiment as well as smart embodiments that can synergistically sense, actuate and/or transmit data between the stabilizer, medical device and control or display system to operate and/or deploy the device/therapy.
Abstract:
A system, method and apparatus for performing a thoracostomy comprises a tube for insertion in a patient's chest cavity, an inflatable sac configured on a first section of the tube, an inflation valve for inflating the inflatable sac, and a flange associated with a second section of the tube configured for securing the tube wherein the first section of the tube is inserted into the patient's body and the second section of the tube is external to the patient's body.
Abstract:
A tracheostomy tube assembly has a shaft (10) and a flange (20) at its machine end. The tube is secured about the patient's neck by means of a neck tie (31) and two pads (32) folded about opposite ends of the flange (20) to space the flange above the skin. The pads (32) have opposite end regions (37) and (38) with conformable cushions (37A, 37B, 38A) and (38B) on opposite sides containing a viscoelastic gel. Apertures (41) through the end regions (37) and (38) align with openings (21) in the flange (20), with the neck tie (31) extending through the apertures and openings and being wrapped around the end of the flange. The end regions (37) and (38) also have a longitudinal channel (42) along their outer surface that receives the neck tie (31) to prevent it rubbing on the skin.
Abstract:
Abstract:
An apparatus comprising a first component; a second component; and a locking element adapted to selectively couple the first and second components together, wherein the locking element is rotatable between a first position and a second position, wherein the apparatus is adapted to secure a catheter between the first and second components when the locking element is in the first position, and wherein the catheter is removable from the apparatus when the locking element is in the second position.
Abstract:
A securement device configured to secure an external portion of a medical device to the skin surface of a patient after an internal portion of the device has been placed in the patient is disclosed. The securement device includes a retainer that is employed to securely retain the external portion of the medical device in place. The retainer is attached to a base, such as an adhesive pad that adhesively attaches to the skin surface. In one embodiment, therefore, a retainer comprises a body defining a channel configured to receive therein a portion of the medical device, and at least one foot extending from the body that is configured to stabilize the retainer with respect to a skin surface. The retainer body further includes a nose that is configured to deflect a portion of the external portion of the medical device toward the skin insertion site.
Abstract:
A cannula protector for protection of a cannulation site on a body is described. The protector includes a shield for inhibiting access to the cannulation site; and a body mount operatively connected to the shield, the body mount configured to provide one or more relief zones so as to relieve the mounting force of the protector when mounted on the body. A protector for protection of a cannulation site on a body is also described, the protector including: a shield for inhibiting access to the cannulation site; wherein the shield is configured to conform to a contour of the body to inhibit access to the cannulation site. Further, a protector for protection of a cannulation site on a body is described, the protector including: a shield for inhibiting access to the cannulation site; and a body mount operatively connected to the shield, the body mount including a plurality of body engaging feet; wherein the body engaging feet are configured to move to conform to a contour of the body to inhibit access to the cannulation site.
