The present invention provides a multi-compartment container for providing to a consumer a combination of at least one major component and at least one additive, which container comprises a major compartment with a first-type wall for the major component and a separate minor compartment with a second-type wall for the additive or a precursor thereof, characterized in that the second-type wall differs in at least one physical or chemical property from the first-type wall.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for the production of at least one of a fermentation product and a derivate thereof comprising the steps of: a. providing a fermentable aqueous solution comprising at least one fermentable compound and at least one impurity; b. selectively extracting the at least one impurity from at least a portion of the fermentable aqueous solution by means of an extractant to form an impurity-depleted fermentable solution comprising a fermentable compound and to form an impurity-comprising extract; and c. fermenting the fermentable compound of the impurity-depleted fermentable solution to form a fermentation broth comprising a fermentation product wherein the extractant comprises at least one of the fermentation product and a derivate thereof.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a process for the purification and oncentration of a partially water-soluble organic product from a source containing the same at concentration C0, which process comprises the steps of: (i) concentrating said product by means of a resin to form a first aqueous solution at concentration of C1; and (ii) fractionating an aqueous solution by temperature adjustment to form a second aqueous solution and a third aqueous solution with concentrations C2 and C3, respectively, wherein C2>C3 and C2>C1>C0.
Abstract:
A process for desulfurizing an SO 2 -comprising gaseous stream comprising the steps of: a. providing an aqueous feed comprising an anion selected from a group consisting of carbonate, bicarbonate, hydroxide, sulfite, and hydrogen sulfite; b. providing an SO 2 -comprising gaseous feed; and c. contacting the aqueous feed and the gaseous feed to generate a desulfurized gaseous product comprising less than 40% of the feed SO 2 content, and an aqueous product; wherein the contacting is carried out in a cyclone unit comprising a housing defined by a cylindrical peripheral wall and provided with at least one inlet opening for receiving fluids thereinto and with at least one swirling means, and wherein the cyclone unit is characterized in that the velocity of the gaseous stream inside the cyclone unit is between 20m/sec and 120 m/sec.
