    Abstract: A fluid flow control device adapted to control the flow of fluid from a fluid container to a fluid extraction device without the need for a needle. The fluid flow control device includes a connector element and a container insert member which define a fluid channel. A compressible valve element is disposed in the fluid channel of the connector element and the container insert member. The valve element includes a plug and shaft and resiliently prevents the flow of fluid by forming a fluid seal in the fluid channel. The valve element may be operationally engaged by the fluid extraction device thereby breaking the fluid seal and allowing the fluid to flow from the container to the fluid extraction device.

    Abstract: Barbed fittings having elongated bodies defining open ends and an internal fluid carrying passage interconnecting the ends are disclosed herein, with at least one end having a barb with a reduced outer diameter and/ or taper angle to reduce the amount of insertion force necessary to install the fittings, thereby making the fittings easier to insert in conduit and/or other fluid carrying components. To also make the fittings easier to install, a barbed fitting insertion tool is disclosed having a body defining a fitting receptacle in a front portion of the body and a handle portion in the rear portion of the body for gripping and inserting fittings located in the fitting receptacle into conduit. The fitting receptacle having a locking mechanism for securing the fittings to the tool and preventing unintentional removal of same from the tool.

    Abstract: A fluid flow control device (10) adapted to control the flow of fluid from a fluid container to a fluid extraction device without the need for a needle. The fluid flow control device (10) includes a connector element (12) and a container insert member (28) which define a fluid channel (20). A compressible valve element (46) is disposed in the fluid channel (20) of the connector element (12) and the container insert member (28).     Abstract: A method and apparatus for coupling ends of tubes, particularly tubes of different outer diametral sizes. The coupling includes resiliently deformable portions for retaining and sealing the tube within the coupling in a generally leak-proof manner, and an insert is provided for reception within the end of each tube. The insert imparts a greater level of stiffness to the tube for improving the sealing of the tube within the coupling. The insert provides a tight friction-fit between the insert and tube and retards or restricts withdrawal of the insert and tube from the coupling.
