摘要: A method for security purposes is disclosed, in which a challenge signal is applied to a physical object and a response signal is received from the physical object. The response signal comprises a plurality of characteristic resonant optical mode or a characteristic of the response signal is determined based on a spatial resolution of at least two frequency components of the response signal that is affected by luminescence effect. The inner structure of the physical structure may also comprise a network of non-linear electrical components and at least one component arranged for the reception and emission of electromagnetic radiation. The physical object may finally also be provided with electrical contact for interaction with a measuring device.

摘要: The invention is to provide novel, strong, cost-effective and efficiently deployable technological means that are sufficiently robust to provide high assurance for authenticity and trustworthiness of hardware components (Integrated Circuits (ICs)) manufactured in untrustworthy foundries while providing sensitive testing information and only to authorized parties allow for monitoring and auditing hardware after delivery by the manufacturer exploit physical properties at the (deep-) submicron and nano-scale of the underlying hardware not only to achieve unique device identification but also to detect small tempering and the presence of Trojans. The invention aim is to increase the protection of hardware systems against counterfeiting, cloning, tampering, reverse engineering and insertion of malicious components.

摘要: A system for security purposes comprising: - an inner structure that is accessible by a plurality of terminals, - wherein the system allows a measurement on the inner structure of the system by using a challenge signal comprising a plurality of input signals applied in parallel to the terminals and by receiving a response signal dependent on a setting of the challenge signal and dependent on the inner structure of the system, wherein - the system comprises at least two features of the group containing: > the ability to process non-binary input signals, > a bandwidth at the terminals and an information content ensuring a incomplete readout of the information content within a predefined access time period, > a spatial and/or logical disorder of the inner structure, > a non-linear relation between the input signals and output signals appearing at the terminals, and that - from the knowledge of a subset of the predefined settings and of associated response signals, the response signal associated with a particular setting outside the subset is not predictable with a probability higher than the probability for guessing the response signal.
