Abstract: Disclosed is a device for joining plastic pipes for use in a variety of fields, such as the conveyance of fluids of any kind, particular uses being in heat-exchangers or as flue linings. Such pipes are also suitable for use as conduits or protective sheathing for cables. In such applications, the use of plastic pipes depends particularly on the suitability of the pipe-joining technique used. The pipe joints must be highly reliable and able to be simply and rapidly made, thus requiring high efficiency. It should also be possible to replace pipes easily, particularly in refit programmes. The invention calls for a plastic pipe (13, 14, 16) with a thread-like flexible spiral wall, the pipe itself (13, 14, 16) acting directly as a screw-coupling element to form the joint.
