Methods, systems, and apparatus relate to technologies generally relating to the placement of hyperlinks within the body of text of a document. The specification describes the placement of hyperlinks on specified words or phrases, according to a specified link distribution function across the body of the text content of a document. Some techniques involve a method for determining a placement of links on a document that involves selecting a document comprising words of text for placing links in the document, selecting a link distribution function, and using the link distribution function in determining locations for the placement of the links in the document. The placement of hyperlinks in the document may be automatically performed on a server side.

Customizing instant messaging communications for a first instant messaging participant includes receiving first filter criteria corresponding to an online presence state of instant messaging participants to be filtered. First information associated with each of one or more other instant messaging participants selected by the first instant messaging participant is accessed. The first filter criteria is applied to the first information for each of the other instant messaging participants to obtain a first filter result for each of the other instant messaging participants. A participant list is configured to persistently reflect a display of information about the other instant messaging participants according to the first filter result for each of the other instant messaging participants.

The present invention relates to novel type of monoterpene synthase, a key enzyme in the production of the monoterpene aroma compound geraniol. More specifically, the present invention relates to nucleic acid sequences coding for CUES from flowers and herbs species, in particular sweet basil, as well as to vectors containing the sequences, to host cells containing the sequences and to methods of producing recombinant GES, its products, and uses thereof.

A "buddy member match" feature is directed to matching computer users of like interests, particularly computer users who are members of an online service provider. In general, a member (the match recipient) may update or create a member profile maintained by a service provider such as AOL. Once the match recipient has a member profile, a search is initiated to identify matching members by comparing the member profile of the match recipient to the member profiles of other members. Matching members are other members whose member profiles have at least one personal attribute matching an attribute of the match recipient's member profile. When contact information of the matching member is displayed, the contact information is accompanied by an indication that the contact information belongs to a matching member.

Dirigent proteins and pinoresinol/lariciresinol reductases have been isolated from Forsythia intermedia, Thuja plicata and Tsuga heterophylla, together with cDNAs encoding dirigent proteins and pinoresinol/lariciresinol reductases from these species. Accordingly, isolated DNA sequences are provided which code for the expression of dirigent proteins and pinoresinol/lariciresinol reductases. In other aspects, replicable recombinant cloning vehicles are provided which code for dirigent proteins or pinoresinol/lariciresinol reductases or for a base sequence sufficiently complementary to at least a portion of dirigent protein or pinoresinol/lariciresinol reductase DNA or RNA to enable hybridization therewith (e.g., antisense dirigent protein or pinoresinol/lariciresinol reductase RNA or fragments of complementary dirigent protein or pinoresinol/lariciresinol reductase DNA which are useful as polymerase chain reaction primers or as probes for genes encoding dirigent proteins or pinoresinol/lariciresinol reductases or related genes).
