Abstract:
Flat content (or flat book) is converted to rich content (or a rich book) in an e-reader environment through key term identification, context-based search using identified key terms, ranking of search results, and comparison of the ranked search results against a predefined threshold, customizable by a user or an administrator. Textual, graphic, audio, video, and comparable objects from search results above the predefined threshold may be augmented in suitable locations within the flat content such as interactive text, audio/video object, images, additional text, or other interactive elements.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a first selection, from a user, indicative of a first concept, the first concept being defined by the presence or absence of a text string in an unstructured data object or a data code stored in a structured data object. The method further includes receiving a second selection, from a user, the second selection indicative of a second concept, the second concept being defined by the presence or absence of a text string in an unstructured data object or a data code stored in a structured data object. The method further includes determining a relationship between the first concept and the second concept, the relationship based on a number of documents from a plurality of documents that include the first concept and the second concept. The method further includes outputting a visual representation of the relationship to a display.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and apparatus relate to technologies generally relating to the placement of hyperlinks within the body of text of a document. The specification describes the placement of hyperlinks on specified words or phrases, according to a specified link distribution function across the body of the text content of a document. Some techniques involve a method for determining a placement of links on a document that involves selecting a document comprising words of text for placing links in the document, selecting a link distribution function, and using the link distribution function in determining locations for the placement of the links in the document. The placement of hyperlinks in the document may be automatically performed on a server side.
Abstract:
Attentive clustering includes constructing an online author network, wherein constructing includes selecting a set of source nodes (S), a set of outlink targets (T) from a selected type or types of hyperlinks, and a set of edges (E) between S and T defined by the selected hyperlinks, constructing a matrix of source nodes in S linked to targets in T', wherein T' is derived by normalizing nodes in T, and partitioning the network into at least one set of source nodes with a similar linking history to form an attentive cluster and at least one set of outlink targets with a similar citation profile to form an outlink bundle. Attentive clustering may further include applying any lists specifying inclusion or exclusion of particular nodes. Frequencies of links between attentive clusters and outlink bundles may be measured and analyzed.
Abstract:
A system and method for grouping chunks, highlighting a chunk location within a document, and ranking hyperlinks of a document. A portion of a document including one or more hyperlinks to linked documents at respective data sources is displayed in a first window. In response to a search request including one or more search terms, one or more of the linked documents are requested from the respective data sources. When a respective linked document is received from a respective data source, it is determined whether the respective linked document includes chunks that match at least one of the search terms. If true, at least a subset of the chunks are displayed as a respective group in a second window only if a number of groups displayed in the second window is less than a predefined number of groups.
Abstract:
A method for achieving uninterrupted interactivity for user watching a video yet clicking on an advertisement is provided. A method for delayed interactivity is provided herein. Delayed interactivity is implemented in the form of delayed insertions. When a user clicks on an object in hypervideo, presentation of or any action on the related information is deferred rather than played immediately. Delayed interactivity also is implemented in the form of video bookmarks. When a user clicks on an actual advertisement, related information is stored, i.e., bookmarked, along with video content. In this way, the user can pursue the related information at a later time and at the user's convenience.
Abstract:
A system and method for providing information over a communication network among a group of computer users. Computer users are able to provide information that relates to information downloaded from the communication network. User-provided information is displayed adjacent to the relevant information from the communication network and is viewable by other computer users utilizing the system.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for mapping viewable and non-viewable media to websites are disclosed. Mapping is executed through associated or embedded data, based upon frame and/or time segment of the media. The media-to-browser-destination-data (MBDD) may be embedded in media content, embedded in a transmitted signal, downloaded or pushed to a media playing device, or provided by a graphic overlay. Media players are disclosed that can process the MBDD to launch a browser to a selected web site.
Abstract:
A computer program product and document management system for managing nested references. The document management system scans each document within the document management system to ascertain if the document includes a nested reference. If a second document is a nested reference of a first document, the document management system creates an indicia of reference indicating the second document is referenced within the first document within a data structure, such as a database. As documents are checked-out, edited, and checked-in to the document management system, the system will update the data structure with any changes such as file name, revision number, and the document management system may also update a pointer to the memory location within the document management system associated with the updated nested reference. Additionally, the document management system can update any links or embedded information in a master document related to the nested reference if the nested reference has been edited.
Abstract:
A remote control device (12) for a TV (11) can be used to select a word in a closed caption text, and if the word is associated with additional content, a list of the content is displayed on the TV (11). The user can select a piece of content from the list. A dictionary meaning of a selected word may also or alternatively be provided.
