    Abstract: A system and process for predicting the failure of a machine begins with the step of loading a slope signature library into the control system, in which the slope signature library correlates time-to-failure based on rates of change of one or more measured conditions. The process includes the steps of activating the machine, determining baseline measurements, and detecting an out-of-spec measurement. Once an out-of-spec measurement is made, the process includes the determination of the rate of change for the out-of-spec measurement. A slope signature is calculated based on the rate of change for the measured condition, which is compared against the slope signature library to determine a predicted time-to-failure based on the calculated slope signature, and outputting the predicted time-to-failure. The process can be used to modify the operation of the machine to extend the predicted time-to-failure.

    Abstract: An ultrasonic testing system includes one or more matrix array ultrasonic probes, a probe positioning assembly, and an analyzer. The assembly is configured to position the probes for ultrasonic communication with a target, such as a wheel, including at least one coupling validation geometry. Each of the probes is configured to emit a validation ultrasonic signal directed towards a coupling validation geometry within the wheel, measure its emitted validation ultrasonic signal after reflection from a respective coupling validation geometry, and at least one of emit an ultrasonic inspection signal and measure an inspection ultrasonic signal reflected from a defect positioned within an inspection area of the wheel. The analyzer is configured to receive the measured validation ultrasonic signal and the measured inspection ultrasonic signal, determine that the measured validation ultrasonic signal matches a reference validation signal, and output a first notification representing validation of the measured inspection ultrasonic signal.

    Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for recovering mixed refrigerant and/or nitrogen within liquefaction systems are provided. The systems, devices, and methods facilitate recovering mixed refrigerant (MR) and/or nitrogen vapor that can leak from a compressor, separating the MR from the nitrogen, and reusing the MR and/or the nitrogen within the liquefaction system. Recovering and reusing MR and/or nitrogen can minimize loss of MR and nitrogen which can lower the total operating cost of a liquefaction system. Additionally, recovering the MR, rather than burning it, can reduce environmental emissions by reducing the amount of MR that is burned.
