    Abstract: A system for calibrating a driver monitoring system in a vehicle comprises a rearview assembly comprising a housing, a mount secured to a vehicle surface, and a barrel extending between the housing and the mount; an imager disposed in the rearview assembly; a processor in communication with the imager; a memory comprising a file containing information on stationary landmarks proximate the imager; and a controller operable to: receive images of the vehicle's interior and calibrate the imager by identifying a substantially stationary landmark in a first image used during an initial calibration; wherein the controller is configured to re-calibrate the driver monitoring operations based, at least in part, on a detection of the substantially stationary landmark being in a different location in a second image relative to the first image. One of the ends of the barrel is connected with a moveable joint.

    Abstract: An anti-condensation protective eyewear includes a lens having an outer periphery, an inner surface, and an outer surface. There is a sidewall structure coupled to the periphery of the lens and having an inner surface and an outer surface. There are one or more thermoelectric cooling modules coupled to the sidewall structure. Each of the thermoelectric cooling modules includes a cooling surface disposed on a first side, and a heating surface disposed on a second side, opposite the first side. The inner surface of the sidewall structure and the inner surface of the lens form an interior chamber, and the cooling surface of each of the one or more thermoelectric cooling modules is disposed within the interior chamber.

    Abstract: A device and a corresponding system are disclosed. The device may comprise a display. Additionally, the device and/or system may be operable to detect stale images. Further, the stale images may be detected in devices and/or systems where incoming images—such as from an imager—are received at a frame rate different than that of the display. A controller may detect the stale images by assigning hash values to images of each frame displayed by the display; storing novel hash values in a memory; and maintaining a counter. The counter may be maintained such that assigning a repeat hash value increments the counter by one and assigning novel hash values resets the counter to zero. Further, the stale images may be determined based, at least in part, on the counter value.

    Abstract: A system and corresponding method are disclosed for biometric operations. The system may comprise an illumination source, a polarization selector, an imager, and a controller. The illumination source may illuminate a biometric feature. The polarization selector may receive light reflected from the biometric feature and be operable between two states selectively transmitting different polarizations. The imager may receive the light selectively transmitted by the polarization selector and generate one or more images. The controller may perform a biometric authentication based, at least in part, on the one or more images. In operation, the polarization selector may switch between states so that the system may capture two separate image sets, each based on light of a different polarization. Accordingly, adverse reflections, such as those off an eyeball or glasses, may be substantially eliminated or reduced in at least one of the image sets.

    Abstract: An impact attenuation lattice structure includes a plurality of unit cells. Each of the plurality of unit cells has a horizontal plane, a central axis, and a plurality of struts that form a plurality of sidewall frames. Each of the plurality of sidewall frames are angled relative to the central axis and the horizontal plane is perpendicular to the central axis. The plurality of unit cells are connected to one another to form a lattice structure. A first unit cell of the plurality of unit cells share one sidewall frame of the plurality of sidewall frames with a second unit cell of the plurality of unit cells adjacent to the first unit cell.
