The mobile station may transmit an indication of the resource reservation using an entry-based format or a bitmap-based format, wherein the entry-based format or the bitmap-based format is selected based at least in part on a configuration of the resource pool, a periodicity of the resource reservation, or whether the resource reservation is multiplexed with sidelink data. Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first user equipment (UE) may transmit a control message indicating reservation of a first resource of a sidelink channel for a sidelink transmission. The first UE may receive a pre-conflict indication for the first resource based on the control message. In some cases, the first UE may disregard the pre-conflict indication, or may not disregard the conflict indication based on one or more factors. The first UE may perform resource re-selection to select a second resource for the sidelink transmission if the first UE receives the conflict indication at least a threshold amount of time prior to the first resource, and may transmit using the second resource. Otherwise, the first UE may report a negative acknowledgement (NACK) message from a physical (PHY) layer to a medium access control (MAC) layer.

Generally, a user equipment (UE) may identify a set of time and frequency resources to reserve for one of sidelink transmissions by a second UE to the first UE or to one or more third UEs (e.g., type A), or sidelink transmissions by the first UE to one or more third UEs (e.g., type B), and may select a first indicator and a second indicator for the reservation. The first indicator of a time resource and the second indicator of a frequency resource may be associated with the identified set of time and frequency resources for the reservation. The UE may transmit, to the second UE, a coordination message that includes the first indicator and the second indicator, and includes an indication that the message is associated with type A or type B reservations.

To improve sidelink reservation schemes, a first user equipment (UE) may indicate its preferences for sidelink resources to a second UE that may select sidelink resources for sidelink messages based on the indicated preferences. For example, the first UE may monitor a first set of sidelink resources for sidelink control information (SCI) to determine which sidelink resources of a second set of sidelink resources are available. Based on the monitoring, the first UE may generate a bitmap that indicates the first UE's preferences for the sidelink resources of the second set and may transmit a coordination message to the second UE that includes the bitmap. The second UE may receive the coordination message and transmit, to the first UE, one or more sidelink messages using one or more sidelink resources of the second set selected based on the indicated preferences.

The first UE may be configured to receive, from a second UE, a first reservation of an SL resource for a first SL transmission.
