Abstract:
An Internet telephone for performing voice communication over the Internet and a method for performing is discloses herein. In the described embodiment, the Internet telephone (100) has an identification code associated with a user and is stored in an ID controller (108). The Internet phone (100) is arranged to be connected to an online computer system (200) and the preferred method includes the step of receiving the identification code from the Internet phone (100) via the computer system (200); and receiving or delivering voice messages to or from the Internet phone (100) based on the identification code. Preferably, the Internet phone (100) has audio means (102, 104) for inputting and outputting of voice signals.
Abstract:
The various embodiments provide systems, devices, and methods which include an acoustic tag configured to transmit an acoustic signal through a contact medium that may be received by an acoustic modem, with the acoustic signal configured to transmit information. By modulating sound traveling through an acoustic connection between the fluid container and a pump, meter or valve, information such as an identifier of the fluid or container may be transmitted without risk of confusion with other fluid containers in the vicinity. In a medical embodiment, IV fluid and the IV drip tube provide a fluid and plastic acoustic connection to an IV pumping or metering device and an IV bag through which sound may be transmitted. The transmission of identification information through this physical connection may insure that the pumping or metering device only communicates with the IV bag coupled to the pump. Acoustic tags may be active or passive.
Abstract:
A method for dynamically and adaptively delivering special offerings in a network environment includes the steps of categorizing a content of contexts and special offerings, analyzing and indexing information carrying units from the special offerings, pre-locating the indexed information carrying units in the contexts, associating categorized special offerings with the pre-located information carrying units in the contexts, tagging the pre-located information carrying units in the contexts, receiving a request from a user for a context, and serving the tagged context to the user.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses are directed to calibrating a misconfigured wireless access point. One method may include receiving a position of mobile station(s) and wireless signal model measurements derived from packets exchanged between the mobile station(s) and a plurality of wireless access points, receiving positions and/or identities of the plurality of wireless access points used in determining the position of the mobile station(s), comparing a position of the mobile station(s) with wireless signal model measurements, and identifying a misconfigured wireless access point based upon the comparing. Another method may include receiving positions associated with a plurality of wireless access points, determining a position of a mobile station based upon a wireless signal model, comparing the position of the mobile station and the wireless signal model with the positions associated with the plurality of wireless access points, and determining whether at least one wireless access point is misconfigured.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus are used for encoding (310) and decoding (408) a message encoded with at least one entertainment component after receiving the message contents from a sender. Instructions from the sender are used for selecting (304) the encoding method for the message content to provide the entertainment component. When the selected encoding method is not available locally, it may be downloaded (306) to the electronic device (200). The encoded message may be supplemented (316) with descriptive information regarding the encoding method used to provide the entertainment component of the encoded message. The encoded message may include aural, haptic and visual elements as part of the entertainment component. The entertainment component may include optional game elements requiring a recipient or viewer to play (410) the game to view (412) the message contents.

Abstract:
A method of performing touch operation on a graphical object on a touch sensitive display of a multi-object touch handheld device is provided. The method comprises detecting the presence of at least two touch input objects; determining one of the touch input objects as pointing at a center of operation; determining a type of operation; and performing the type of operation on the graphical object at the center of operation. A handheld device with at least one processor and at least one type of memory is also provided. The handheld device further comprises touch sensitive display capable of showing at least one graphical object and sensing at least two touch input objects; means for determining the presence of the touch input objects touching the touch sensitive display; and means for determining a center of operation.
