Abstract: The invention relates to a cutting system for machines for machining rectilinearly and continuously moving plate-shaped work pieces, for the purpose of severing the projecting front and rear ends of the edges. The cutting system comprises at least one saw unit provided with a motor-driven saw blade, which is mounted so as to be displaceable between a position above the work pieces and a position below the work pieces at an angle to the direction of movement of the work pieces, and a feeler, associated with the saw blade and having a feeler surfaces.
