Abstract:
The invention relates to a cutting system for machines for machining rectilinearly and continuously moving plate-shaped work pieces, for the purpose of severing the projecting front and rear ends of the edges. The cutting system comprises at least one saw unit provided with a motor-driven saw blade, which is mounted so as to be displaceable between a position above the work pieces and a position below the work pieces at an angle to the direction of movement of the work pieces, and a feeler, associated with the saw blade and having a feeler surfaces. Said feeler surface is aligned with the cutting plane of the saw blade and can be placed on the front or rear transversal face of the work pieces. The aim of the invention is to improve the cutting system in such a manner as to eliminate the danger of the surface of the transversal faces of the work pieces being damaged. To this end, the feeler comprises an alignment element that is displaced together with the saw unit and a feeler element that is displaced relative to the alignment element and comprises the feeler surface.
Abstract:
A profiling device (100) is discussed, the profiling device is adapted for mounting to a cutting implement such as an angle grinder (10) having body (11), head (12), blade (13) and guard (14). The profiling device (100) preferably includes an elongate member (101) which encapsulates a portion of the blade (13) and a shroud (102) which is secured to the head (12) end of the grinder (10). The elongate member (101) includes rails (1011, 1012) which act as a cutting guide for the cutting implement to produce the desired profile to the work piece. Rails (1011, 1012) are preferably disposed at a pre-set angle? to one another with the portion of the blade (13) accommodated therein.

Abstract:
A universal edge guide is provided that is operable for guiding a tool with respect to an edge of a workpiece. In accordance with an embodiment, the universal edge guide provides tool guidance by way of a sliding fence abutting an edge of the workpiece well before the initial engagement of the tool working portion with the workpiece, during the engagement of the tool working portion with the workpiece, and after the disengagement of the tool working portion with the workpiece.
Abstract:
A method of and device for aligning a plate (1) provided with a decorating pattern, prior to trimming, where the trimming of at least one of the edges of the plate (1) must be aligned with respect to the decorating pattern, and where the decorating pattern of the plate (1) is provided with an alignment line (14), preferably during the application of the decorating pattern, the plate (1) being arranged and held on an adjustment table (22) prior to trimming, whereupon the adjustment table (22) with the plate (1) is aligned with respect to the alignment line (14) before the plate (1) is trimmed.
Abstract:
A hand held battery powered cutting tool is provided. The tool the (1) comprises a handle portion (30), a cutting assembly (10) which cutting assembly comprises a cutting means carrier (12) arranged to rotate therewith a cutting means (13) about a first axis (A1) of rotation, and an electric motor (11) arranged to rotate an output shaft about a second axis (A2) of rotation. The tool furthermore comprises an elongate rod (20) interconnecting the handle portion (30) and the cutting assembly (10). The elongate rod (20) has a lower end portion (21) arranged proximal to the cutting assembly (10). The lower end portion has an extension direction essentially coinciding with the first axis (A1) of rotation. The second axis (A2) of rotation is located behind the first axis (A1) of rotation when the tool (1) is in a working position.
Abstract:
An apparatus (22) for clipping ends (128) of a book (20) of sheets comprises a first detector (120, 122, 124, 126) for detecting a first end (128) of the book (20) of sheets, a clipper positioning system (24) and a first clipper (34) including a knife (92). The clipper positioning system (24) is adapted to automatically position the first clipper (34) to a proposed first clipping position based on the detected first end (128) of the book (20) of sheets. A method of processing a plurality of sheets comprises assembling the plurality of sheets into a book (20) of sheets, detecting (120, 122, 124, 126) a first end (128) of the book (20) of sheets to propose a first position (130) for clipping the book (20) of sheets, positioning a first clipper (34) based on the detected first end (128) of the book (20) of sheets, advancing the book (20) of sheets to an infeed conveyor (156, 160, 164, 166, 168, 170), detecting (120, 122, 124, 126) the presence of the book (20) of sheets in the infeed conveyor (156, 160, 164, 166, 168, 170), advancing the book (20) of sheets to the first clipper (34), clipping the first end (128) of the book (20) of sheets, and advancing the book (20) of sheets from the first clipper (34).

Abstract:
A precut module with one or more profiling heads and/or circular saws may be provided upstream of a saw module. The precut module may be used to implement a portion of a cut that would otherwise be made by the saw module, thereby reducing the depth of cut required at the saw module. In some embodiments, profiling heads may be used to profile a block that is wider than a desired side board. The block may be cut from the workpiece and sent to the edger. This may provide the same or better wood volume recovery and/or throughput speed than profiling the side board or cutting the side board from a flitch. In some embodiments, cut patterns for the precut module and other machine centers may be calculated and/or selected based on a desired depth of cut at the saw module, desired throughput speed, wood volume recovery, and/or other parameters.
