Abstract:
A retractable stair assembly built into the car (5) of a lift (50) controlled from inside said car, whereby one of the floors (1, 2) of a building may be accessed over a railing (3) or equivalent obstacle. The stair assembly consists of an intermediate gangway (11) and access stairs (6) hingedly interconnected and controlled by a handle located inside the lift car or by any mechnical and electrical control device providing absolute system safety. Landing doors are therefore no longer necessary. The device is particularly suitable for use in outdoor lifts on building sites or for protecting people as they get in and out of vehicles.
