Abstract: An endoscopic stone-extraction device is provided comprising a support filament (910) comprising an end portion, a sheath (930) comprising a lumen (940), wherein the support filament (910) is disposed in the lumen (940) such that the sheath (930) is slideable with respect to the support filament (910), and a handle comprising an actuator (1700). Movement of the actuator (1700) in a first direction retracts the sheath (930) and causes a shape to expand outside the lumen (940). Movement of the actuator (1700) in a second direction advances the sheath (930) and causes the shape to at least partially collapse inside the lumen (940). Other embodiments are provides, and any of these embodiments can be used alone or in combination.

Abstract: An endoscopic stone-extraction device is provided comprising a support filament comprising an end portion having a plurality of stacked loops, a sheath comprising a lumen, wherein the support filament is disposed in the lumen such that the sheath is slideable with respect to the support filament, and a handle comprising an actuator. Abstract: In one embodiment, an endoscope valve assembly is releasably secured to a hand of a user of an endoscope. The endoscope valve assembly can be releasably secured to any part of the user's hand (e.g., palm, thumb, or finger) and can be secured either to the hand that holds the endoscope or to the user's other hand. Additionally, when the user holds an endoscope in one hand and a second medical instrument in his other hand, the valve assembly for the endoscope can be releasably secured to the second medical instrument. Other embodiments are described, and each of the embodiments can be used alone or in combination with each other.

Abstract: A modular endoscope valve assembly (30) is releasably mounted on the handpiece (12) of an endoscope (10). This valve assembly includes an inlet port (32), an outle port (34), and a valve (36) manually operable selectively to block and to allow the flow of irrigation fluid from the inlet port to the outlet port. The valve assembly is releasably held to the handpiece (12) of the endoscope (10) by a mechanical fastener such as a pressure-sensitive adhesive (40), a strap (42), a snap lock, or otherwise. Once the valve assembly (30) is releasably mounted to the handpiece, the physician using the endoscope can manually control the flow of irrigation fluid, and optionally suction, with the same hand as the one that supports the handpiece, thereby leaving the other hand of the physician free for surgical procedures. The modular valve assembly (30) of this invention can be used with the widest variety of endoscopes, including flexible, rigid and semi rigid ureteroscope as well as various percutaneous endoscopes.
