The present invention relates to an intra prediction method and to an apparatus using the same. The intra prediction method according to the present invention comprises the following steps: inducing a current prediction mode as a prediction mode for a current block; constructing peripheral samples of the current block to an available reference sample; filtering the available reference sample; and generating a prediction sample for the current block based on the filtered modified reference sample, wherein the filtering step is performed using the available reference sample located in a prediction direction of the current prediction mode and a predetermined number of available reference samples arranged near said prediction direction of the current prediction mode.

The present invention relates to a video signal processing method, which obtains a picture coding structure flag for a picture of a reference view if the picture of the reference view is used for inter-view prediction according to inter-view reference flag information for the picture of the reference view, generates a reference picture list for the inter-view prediction on the basis of the picture coding structure flag, and predicts a pixel value of a picture of a non-reference view by using the reference picture list for the inter-view prediction. According to the present invention, profile information indicative of a stereo video can be defined whereby a multi-view video signal is more efficiently coded, and an access unit is redefined, thereby performing the inter-view prediction without being limited to a coding format of an inter-view reference picture when the stereo video is decoded.

A characterising feature of the present invention is that, when a depth inter-view prediction flag is acquired in accordance with the current block type and an indication is given of the use of depth inter-view prediction in the coding of the current block in accordance with the depth inter-view prediction flag, colour information about a reference block corresponding to the current block is acquired, and colour information about the current block is predicted using the colour information about the reference block. By carrying out inter-view prediction using depth information, the present invention makes it possible to use depth information to guide a macro-block motion vector in a decoder. Consequently, the volume of transmitted bits can be reduced since the macro-block motion vector does not need to be coded separately. Also, the present invention makes it possible to effectively indicate whether to perform inter-view prediction or depth inter-view prediction, due to the use of a flag which indicates whether to perform inter-view prediction using depth information.

The present invention includes determining an intra reference block in a current view layer by using an intra motion information of an inter-reference unit in a reference view layer, the inter-reference unit being partially decoded and decoding the current block in the current view layer by using the intra-reference block. Accordingly, in coding a video signal, pictures failing to be substantially referred to for reconstruction of a current picture can be omitted. According to another aspect of the present invention, residual information having high redundancy is omitted to raise a compression ratio.
