Abstract:
Methods for transferring a foreign gene into a chromosome in order to eliminate unnecessary genes originating in a vector, etc. other than the foreign gene by contriving procedures for transferring the foreign gene into the vector with the use of a lysogenic phage. One of these methods comprises: the first step of acquiring a vector wherein the integration site (the attP site) of the lysogenic phage is located between a first partial sequence of the foreign gene to be transferred but lacking one terminal region and a second partial sequence of the gene lacking another terminal region and having a region overlapping that of the first partial sequence; the second step of integrating the vector obtained in the first step onto the host chromosome; and the third step of screening from among the recombinants obtained in the second step a recombinant from which the unnecessary genes originating in the vector have been eliminated owing to the homologous recombination mechanism of the overlapping region in the first and second partial sequences.
Abstract:
Taxane derivatives of general formula (1) and drugs containing the same wherein at least either of X and Y is -CO-A-B (wherein A is a single bond, alkylenecarbonyl or the like, and B is optionally substituted piperidono or the like); and the other thereof is t-butoxycarbonyl or the like; and Z is H or triethylsilyl. These compounds exhibit a high solubility in water and are excellent in antitumor activity.
Abstract:
A thrombolytic peptide composed of 136 amino acid residues, which has little problems of antigenicity and is efficacious in only small doses as compared with staphylokinase (SAK). This peptide is obtained by cleaving amino acids or peptides which do not affect the activity of SAK by using a trypsin protease. In particular, SAK-11, which is obtained by cleaving a peptide composed of ten amino acid residues at the N-terminal of SAK, is superior to SAK in the activities of fibrinolysis, plasminogen activation, fibrin specificity, etc.
Abstract:
A process for producing phosphatidylserines having a side chain derived from a polybasic unsaturated fatty acid. A natural lecithin containing a fatty acid side chain derived from a polybasic unsaturated fatty acid is used as the feedstock. Phospholipase D is caused to act on the natural lecithin as a substrate in the presence of serine, whereby phosphatidylserines having a side chain derived from a polybasic unsaturated fatty acid can be easily obtained through only one reaction step.
Abstract:
A novel method for controlling culture of lactic bacteria, which enables the state of culture of bacteria to be controlled in a simple and rapid manner in the step of cultivation in the production of various products utilizing lactic bacteria. The method is characterized in that, in the step of cultivating lactic bacteria, the intensity of the infrared absorption assignable to dissociable lactic acid and that of the infrared absorption assignable to nondissociable lactic acid in the culture are measured by FT-IR spectrometry and the pH value of the culture and/or the lactic acid concentration of the culture are calculated based on the measurements. The method according to another embodiment is characterized in that, in the above method for controlling culture of lactic bacteria, the intensity of the infrared absorption assignable to glucose as a substrate or an alcoholic C-O group of lactose is measured and the glucose concentration or lactose concentration is calculated based on these measurements. The method according to a further embodiment is characterized in that the intensity of the infrared absorption is measured in-line by the ATR-FT-IR spectrometry and, based on the measurements, the state of culture of lactic bacteria is automatically monitored and controlled.
Abstract:
The invention has its object to effect simultaneous multi-color printing on a container having drum sections recessed from a drum portion by means of a simple construction. To attain such object, according to the invention, a timing screw (35) conveys containers (1), a transfer drum (10) is rotated, a first marking roll (31) transfers ink to stationary shoulder transfer surface portions (11) and stationary drum transfer surface portions (13), a second marking roll transfers ink to movable transfer surface portions (20), and after ink is transferred to shoulder portions (4), drum portion (6) and a neck portion (5) of a container (1) held between a guide (34) and the transfer roll (10) and moved in rotation and printing is performed, a cleaning roll (30) removes the remaining ink on the stationary shoulder transfer surface portions (11), stationary drum transfer surface portions (13) and the movable transfer surface portions (20).
Abstract:
An antibody-sensitized latex used for facilitating the detection of nitrate or nitrite bacteria present in activated sludge or soil, which latex comprises an antibody specific for nitrate or nitrite bacteria adsorbed on latex particles having a specific gravity of as high as around 1.5 g/cc or an average diameter of around 1.0 mu m. The latex facilitates the detection of nitrate or nitrite bacteria which has taken a long period of time or has required technical expertize. Further it serves to establish the method of controlling rapidly and suitably the number of active target microbes present in activated sludge or soil.
Abstract:
An object of the invention is to provide an apparatus which is capable of easily and positively getting an article of food such as French bread and an article for daily use such as umbrellas received into a receiving cover. To this end, the apparatus for getting an article received into a receiving cover according to the invention comprises a plurality of receiving covers adapted to receive a relatively elongated object, a body for containing a plurality of the receiving covers, and means for opening the opening portion of the receiving cover so as to have the object inserted into the receiving cover, said plurality of the receiving covers being loaded in the body of the apparatus while being received in a box. As a result, it is possible according to the invention to easily and positively get an article of food such as French bread and an article for daily use such as umbrellas received into a receiving cover.
