Abstract: The invention relates to a computer-implemented method of registering a set of images, comprising the steps of: - for each pair of images consisting of a first image and a second image of the set, estimating a translation shift between the first image and the second image, thereby determining a graph having nodes each corresponding to an image of the set and direct links each connecting two images of the set and being associated with the estimated translation shift between said two images; - for each image of the set: o calculating a registering shift based on the translation shifts estimated for the pairs of images having said image as one of the first or second images; and o applying the registering shift to the image. The method may comprise, for each direct link in the graph between two images, performing a consistency test which comprises: - checking whether or not the graph satisfies an identity condition between the direct link and any indirect links in the graph between the two images passing through at least one intermediate image and consisting of at least two direct links; and - discarding the estimated translation shift associated to the direct link in case the graph does not satisfy the identity condition.

Abstract: A method of detecting a plume of a given gas composition from a hyperspectral image comprises obtaining a short-wave infrared (SWIR) image depicting an area of interest on a given date from an overhead image acquisition device, determining, for a plurality of wavelengths for which a given gas exhibits an absorption maximum, whether at least one pixel of the SWIR image is indicative of absorption of infrared light within the given gas, applying an anomaly detection algorithm to the SWIR image to detect an anomaly therein that is attributable to a presence of the given gas within the area of interest, and identifying pixels as indicative of an emission of the given gas for those pixels of the SWIR image that are determined to be indicative of absorption of the given gas and determined to be indicative of the anomaly attributable to the presence of the given gas.

Abstract: A method of monitoring synthetic gas emissions comprises obtaining a gas concentration image within a first area of interest from an overhead image acquisition device, detecting from the gas concentration image at least one gas plume of a synthetic gas emission, quantifying an emission rate of the detected gas plume, estimating an estimated point source of the detected gas plume, and attributing the detecting gas plume to an actual point source. A corresponding system for monitoring synthetic gas emissions comprises a memory storing a gas concentration image of a first area of interest, and a processor communicatively coupled thereto and configured to detect from the image of the gas concentration at least one gas plume of a synthetic gas emission, quantify an emission rate of the detected gas plume, estimate an estimated point source of the detected gas plume, and attribute the detecting gas plume to an actual point source.
