Abstract:
A closable throughflow member comprises a housing (1, 101) which defines a flow path for moisture and/or liquid through the housing. A check valve (17, 117) is provided within the housing and is adapted to close in the event of substantial liquid flow in one direction.
Abstract:
Some embodiments can teach a system for monitoring usage of electrical power by a structure. The structure can have one or more main electrical power lines that supply the electrical power to a first load in the structure. A portion of the one or more main electrical power lines can run substantially parallel to a first axis. The structure can further have a panel that overlies the portion of the one or more main electrical power lines. The system can include: (a) a current sensor unit configured to be coupled to a portion of a surface of the panel, the current sensor unit having: (a) at least one magnetic field sensor having a length substantially parallel to a second axis, wherein the second axis is substantially perpendicular to the first axis, and the at least one magnetic field sensor is configured to detect a magnetic field generated by the one or more main electrical power lines; and (b) a processing unit configured to run on a processor. The current sensor unit can be configured to produce an output signal based on the magnetic field detected by the at least one magnetic field sensor. The processing unit further can be configured to receive the output signal from the current sensor unit and process the output signal to determine one or more parameters related to the usage of the electrical power by the first load in the structure. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract:
A gully arrangement comprises a housing (1) having an inlet (17) at an upper end thereof, a reservoir (3) in a lower region thereof, and an outlet (7) in a side of the housing at a level between the reservoir and the inlet. A valve (19) is provided in an upper region of the housing and is adapted to close the inlet in the event liquid in the housing rises substantially to the level of the valve.
Abstract:
A vent comprises a vent body (1) having at least one air flow channel through the body between a front face and a rear face (2) of the body. At least one float controlled flap valve (13) is pivotably mounted within the body, the or each valve having a first, normal position in which air is permitted to flow through an air flow channel and a second position in which the valve pivots in the presence of water to seal the air flow channel.
Abstract:
Techniques for authorization of usage of a payment device include facilitating an issuer of the device obtaining an authorization message for an account number associated with the device, based on desired spending limit parameters established by a merchant and/or an issue of the device; facilitating obtaining an issuei authorization decision; and responsive to the issue authorization decision, facilitating setting a spending limit for the account number based on at least an appropriate one of the parameters.
Abstract:
A door (3) is provided with an escape hatch (15). The door comprises a peripheral frame member (5) and a transverse member (11) dividing the door into lower and upper sections. A panel (13) closes the lower section. An opening hatch (15) is provided in the upper section and is pivotable about an edge thereof relative to the remainder of the door. The opening hatch is adapted, when open, to allow a person to pass through the resulting opening in the door.

Abstract:
A method for coordinating transaction data for targeted offer generation includes facilitating opt-in to a cardholder offer generation scheme, and facilitating obtaining transaction data associated with a card transaction, via a payment card processing network. The transaction data includes (i) attribute data indicative of an attribute of at least one item purchased, and (ii) an account number of the card.. Storage of at least the attribute data in a data warehouse is facilitated, in association with indicia of the holder The steps can be repeated for a plurality of transactions at a plurality of sales entities, to generate a cross-transaction, cross-entity, actual- product-purchased-based data warehouse profile of the holder, Generating a non-real-time offer to the holder by an operator of the payment card network is facilitated, based, at least in part, on data mining performed on the data warehouse profÊle.
Abstract:
An approach for providing closed-loop power control in a radio communications system is disclosed. The system includes a first terminal (101, 109, 111) that is configured to transmit a transmission burst. The system also includes a second terminal (101, 109, 111) that is configured to receive the transmission burst from the first terminal (101, 109, 111) and to determine power level of the transmission burst. The second terminal (101, 109, 111) generates a message that specifies the determined power level, wherein the message is transmitted to the first terminal (101, 109, 111). The first terminal (101, 109, 111) selectively adjusts power level based upon the received message. The above approach has particular applicability to a two-way satellite communication system that utilizes a Network Operations Centre (NOC) 113.
