Abstract: The hydraulic backing, which occurs only above a predetermined steering force, is carried out by means of a working cylinder (6) coupled to a mechanical steering system, a pump (19, 36) and a control valve (12). To provide a servo-assisted steering system which is safe in its operation and simple in its design, the displacement, under the effect of the steering force, against a pretension, of a structural element (2) of the mechanical steering system, mounted slidingly relative to the body of the vehicle, is used for the mechanical actuation of the control valve (12).
