Abstract:
An interactive robot gaming system comprising a remote control unit and one or more semi-autonomous mobile toy robots is provided. The remote control unit (10) has a processor, a display and control means for remotely controlling one or more semi-autonomous mobile toy robots. The semi- autonomous mobile toy robot (12) comprises an onboard control unit (62) and a memory (100) on which is stored gaming software which includes various software routines of autonomous operating modes. The onboard control unit (62) is configured to receive a high level command instruction (120) from the remote control unit (10) and in response to receiving the high level command instruction from the remote control unit, executes the software routine related to the high level command instruction thereby to autonomously perform actions in a programmable manner according to the software routine within a robot gaming environment without further command instructions from the remote control unit.
Abstract:
Provided is a targeting system 10 for a robot gaming environment which includes a transmitter 12 on a target robot 16 and a directional receiver 14 on an attacking robot 18 which system 10 is able to ameliorate the accuracy of a firing means of the attacking robot 18. The receiver 14 includes a housing 24 which defines an elongate channel with an opening therein which allows the receiver 14 to only receive electromagnetic signals 20 from the transmitter 12 if the opening is pointed directly at the target robot 16.
Abstract:
A device 10 for a track bound monitoring system for monitoring conditions on a railway track 28 comprising a first rail 26 and a second rail 30 comprises a signal generation unit 12 having an output 13. The signal generation unit is configured to generate an electrical monitoring signal having a monitoring signal characteristic. The output is connectable to one of the first rail and the second rail. A sensing unit 16 has an input 17 which is connectable to at least one of the rails. A controller 20 is connected to the generation unit and the sensing unit and is configured to cause the generation unit to generate the monitoring signal which propagates in the first rail and to receive from the sensing unit a return signal. The return signal is derived from the monitoring signal and has a return signal characteristic. The controller is configured to utilize a time difference between the monitoring signal characteristic and the return signal characteristic to monitor conditions on the railway track.
Abstract:
A gaming system for the display of game information is provided. The system comprises a mobile toy (14) configured to participate in structured game play and remotely controlled by a remote control unit (12). The mobile toy (14) includes an onboard control unit (32) and communication means to receive instructional information from the remote control unit and to perform gaming related tasks in response to the received instructional information. The onboard control unit is configured to generate information which is transmitted by the communication means to the remote control unit. The remote control unit (12) comprises a processor, communication means to send instructions to and receive the transmitted information from the mobile toy and a display to display the transmitted information.
Abstract:
An interactive robot gaming system (10) is provided. The system comprises at least one remote control unit (12) for remotely controlling at least one mobile toy robot (14) and at least one mobile toy robot (14). The mobile toy robot includes a memory (84) on which is stored gaming software, the mobile toy robot (14) configured to perform gaming related tasks and to transmit game-state information to the remote control unit (12), said game-state information comprising information interpreted according to a set of game rules defined by the gaming software, and wherein the robot (14) is further configured to receive instructional information from the remote control unit (12) and to react to specific game related items in a programmable manner according to the set of game rules, so that the robot (14) is able to participate in an interactive gaming environment framework.
