Abstract: A control valve for a brake booster (10) having a first member (160) with a first bore (166), a second member (200) located in the first bore (166) and having a second bore (202), a plunger (54,80) located in the second bore (202) and connected to an input member (12). A gear (500) fixed to the second member (200) with teeth (502, 504) that engage a first rack (400) retained in the first body (160) and a stationary rack (402) within the brake booster (10). A force applied to the input member (12) controls the development of a pressure differential that moves a wall (38, 44) during a brake application. Movement of the wall (38, 44) causes a rotative torque to be transmitted from the first rack (400) into teeth (502, 504) such that the gear (500) moves with respect to the second rack (402) and the second body (200) to separates from the first body (160) and as a result the travel of input member (12) is less than the travel of the wall (38, 44) during a brake application.
