Abstract: Heating apparatus comprising a water cylinder, a first heat exchanger, a compressor, an expansion valve and a second heat exchanger. The first heat exchanger comprises a tubular coil wound around and in thermal contact with the outer periphery of the cylinder such that adjacent winds are in a in a spaced arrangement such that they do not engage each other and the compressor is operatively connected to the heat exchanger for the supply of compressed hot refrigerant thereto to enable heat to be transferred from the refrigerant to water within the water cylinder. Preferably the water cylinder and first heat exchanger are in a casing and the second heat exchanger is a separate component.
