Abstract:
A system and method for performing Raman spectroscopy using a heterodyne detection scheme are described. The heterodyne detection scheme can combine a modulated portion of radiation having passed through a sample to be analyzed with a reference radiation to produce a combined frequency signal. At least a portion of the reference radiation can be filtered out of the combined frequency signal, resulting in a filtered frequency signal. Information related to the sample can be determined based upon the filtered signal. The determined information can then be analyzed to determine a chemical composition of the sample.
Abstract:
Techniques described herein generally relate to generating an audio signal with a speaker. In some examples, a speaker device is described that includes a membrane and a shutter. The membrane can be configured to oscillate along a first directional path and at a first frequency effective to generate an ultrasonic acoustic signal. The shutter can be positioned about the membrane and configured to modulate the ultrasonic acoustic signal such that an audio signal can be generated.
Abstract:
A light emitting diode (LED) device and packaging with enhance heat conduction. An LED in a wafer level processing (WLP) package is disclosed using vias in the silicon to route the electrical connections to the LED backside and a dedicated hole in the silicon with a direct heat conduction route from the LED to the printed circuit board. Certain layers act to promote mechanical, electrical, thermal, or optical characteristics of the device. The device avoids or ameliorates heat dissipation problems found in conventional LED devices. Some embodiments include a plurality of optically permissive layers, including an optically permissive cover substrate comprising phosphors and/or quantum dots.
Abstract:
In one example of digital media privacy protection, a computer-readable medium stores computer-executable instructions that, when executed, cause one or more processors to execute operations including capturing at least one image file, obfuscating at least all facial images included in the captured image file, comparing all facial images included in the captured image file against a locally stored privacy policy, unobfuscating those of the facial images included in the captured image file for which the comparison against the locally stored privacy policy results in a positive match, and rendering the captured image file.
Abstract:
Optical sensors for use in examining and analyzing a fluid material are described. The optical sensors include a channel configured to transport a fluid material to be examined and analyzed, a first waveguide positioned adjacent to the channel and configured to guide radiation through the channel and a first tunable grating defined on the first waveguide and configured to variably define a cavity for selecting a first wavelength of the radiation.
Abstract:
Technologies are generally described for projecting structured light patterns onto an Augmented Reality (AR) scene in order to track AR camera motion in AR systems. In some examples, structured light patterns may be projected onto the AR scene from a light source in the same plane as the AR camera in order to preserve a consistent reference point for detecting the structured light pattern. The AR camera may detect the structured light patterns and determine the location of the AR camera based on a distance analysis of the detected structured light patterns. Based on the changing locations of the AR camera, the system may track the movement of the AR camera as its location relative to the AR scene changes.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for calibrating a chemical sensing system are disclosed. Detection of a substance using a first chemical sensor in a chemical sensing system may be initiated at a first time. The first chemical sensor may output a first sensor value. Detection of the substance using a second chemical sensor in a chemical sensing system may be initiated at a second time that differs from the first time by a delta value. The second chemical sensor may output a second sensor value. The chemical sensing system may be calibrated based on the first and second sensor values at the second time and the first and second sensor values at a current time.
Abstract:
Technologies are generally described for providing a system of scalable networked devices that may be mapped employing a naming convention that enables an optimized route to the devices through device search algorithms for network-connected and non-network connected devices. The naming convention and corresponding algorithms may enable users to search for a desired functionality, access suitable scalable networked device(s), and utilize the desired functionality. Furthermore, a spider algorithm may be employed to continuously map and update a mesh of scalable networked devices.

Abstract:
Methods, systems, and computer readable storage media for preventing side-channel attacks are disclosed. A computing resource, such as a virtual machine, operating on a computing device or within a computing environment may be duplicated. Properties associated with the computing resource and the duplicate computing resource may be monitored for discrepancies. The discrepancies may be indicative of a security event, such as a virus or side-channel attack. Detected security events may be handled by replacing a computing resource with a duplicate computing resource.
