Abstract:
A reactor to be used for the exothermic reaction of a mixed gas consisting of a plurality of elements in the presence of a solid catalyst. Conventional reactors of the kind described above involve the problems that it is difficult to maintain an optimal temperature for an exothermic reaction, and the reactors are not economical. The reactor of the present invention has a construction such that center pipes are disposed in a plurality of reaction pipes of the reactor, a catalyst is packed into annular spaces between these pipes, an unreacted feed gas is caused to flow from the lower portion of the center pipes to the upper portion and is then mixed with an unreacted feed gas having a lower temperature than the former, and the mixed gas is introduced downward from the upper portion into the catalyst layer. Due to the construction described above, the present invention can effect an exothermic reaction while maintaining the optimal temperature, and can obtain economical advantages. The present invention can be applied to those reactors which effect the exothermic reaction of a mixed gas consisting of a plurality of elements, such as for the synthesis of methanol.
Abstract:
Intercalates, exfoliates thereof, and nanocomposite compositions are formed by intercalating a layered silicate material, e.g ., a phyllosilicate, with an oligomer or polymer intercalant that is a reaction product of at least one diamine with at least one dicarboxylic acid, to form a polyamide oligomer containing a xylylenediamine component. The oligomer or polymer may be formed in-situ by contacting the layered phyllosilicate with polymerizable monomer reactants using conditions to cause reaction and polymerization in the intercalating composition and intercalation of the resulting oligomer and/or polymer, between platelet layers of the phyllosilicate. An amine functionality of the oligomer or polymer is protonated for ion-exchange with interlayer cations of the phyllosilicate to bond the intercalant to the phyllosilicate platelet, at the protonated amine, at a negative charge site previously occupied by the interlayer canons.

Abstract:
Metallic impurities are prevented from adhering to the surface of a semiconductor substrate when the substrate is cleaned with a basic aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide. The cleaning liquid contains a chelating agent having at least two phosponic acid groups. Even when the cleaning liquid is contaminated by the metallic impurities, since they are prevented from adhering to the surface of the substrate, the characteristic of the semiconductor device made of the substrate is stabilized.
